Mass Effect 2
First topic message reminder :
Seriously can't wait for this bad boy. But here's the thing, I'm not happy with my ME1 character/chocies so I'm going to start from a scratch on ME2. A reboot, if you will.
Anyone else getting it? If so, how will you start?

Re: Mass Effect 2
ooops
looks like the ME2 launch stateside has gone all fooked up
EA have been flooded with complaints about crashes, non loading of save ME1 games, the cereberus network being borked and EA online accounts for other games causing problems too
Guess the review copies did not have those issues ...cough..
I never understood why EA made folks sign in to some online account when they were already in Live but folks in the USA are having to contact EA customer support to ensure their gamertags are linked to their EA accounts.
So finally I can add my 10/10 score to the list
If anyone gets their copy in next day or so I would suggest checking a few forums to see if everything has been fixed afore ye play
Lets hope EA fix this quickly as no doubt the game will be due for removal from their servers soon lol

Re: Mass Effect 2
Bioware's site is on fire with people complaining about this cerebus sign up thing. Not looking too promising at all.
Re: Mass Effect 2
You just have to make sure whether you already have an EA account or not. Most of us will do due to the games we play but mine was tied to a gametag not email address. If you go to forgot password it on the EA.com login pages it allows you to reset your password using your gamertag. Apparently you should be fine if you sort this first

Re: Mass Effect 2
their desire to have our details is really not on....dont see why I should have to have an EA account to play their games and never understood that...(i know its for advertising and marketing i just dont understand why i should have to have that thrust upon me)
they really are too big and too powerful for the long term good of the industry
I blame M$ as they bowed down and took it royally up the behind parts in allowing EA to do what the heck it liked so they would support the 360 at the start
now they ride rough shod over us 24/7
Dont get me wrong they do produce some great titles and I am sure their financial clout helps ensure some games are made. Just a shame that the need for greed side of their business gets in the way sometimes.

Ah riiiight. Well tbf, it is all Yanks who are struggling ha ha
I set one up with Burnout Paradise. I imagine it was tied to my GT, as I did it on Live and don't recall having to verify an email addy.

Me too but they seem to have automatically tied it to the email account tied to my gamertag

Re: Mass Effect 2
Here is what Bioware have to say about the issues:
Apparently there is a bug with the special armours too (like the dragon age blood armour) where you can't hide the helmet so shepard is bumbling around trying to drink through the helmet and kiss people with it on etc [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] not a game breaker but little things like that can be a bit weird in cinematic games like ME2
How can you tell if you are Cerberus Enabled:
When you start Mass Effect 2, there are two computers on the main menu.
The computer on the right hand side of the screen should be open. If it
is not then check to see that you've entered your Cerberus Code in the
account creation screens located in game.
PC Collector's Edition Issues :
We're aware that some PC
Collectors' Edition Cerberus Codes are not working. If you have the
number 1688108 on the bottom right of your Cerberus Network card and
have not associated it to your EA Online account at 4:00 PM PST your
codes will be fully functional. If you already have associated it to
your EA Online account at 6:00 PM PST you can restart the game and your
Cerberus Account will be available automatically!
Zaeed :
Some of you may be looking for Zaeed as a way to check your Cerberus
Account. Zaeed is being propagated to Xbox Live as we speak and will be
available mid day tomorrow (MST).
Timeouts:
Some users are reporting timeouts or connection drops to Cerberus
Network. We are actively pursuing a fix to this and will update
everyone once it is fixed on the server-side.
General Cerberus Issues:
If you've entered your Cerberus Activation Code through the web
interface and have played other EA Games with EA Online accounts but
are not seeing the Cerberus Mission Computer open on the main menu.
You'll need to contact EA's Customer service line to ensure that the
Gamer Tag in Xbox Live is associated with your EA Online account you've
used to activate Cerberus.

I remember when you used to put in a Disc and then started to play the game lol
From the glowing reviews though it does look like this will be a title worth going through the initial hassles. Fingers crossed they patch it quick so that everyone can enjoy the fruits of Biowares labours.

Back in the seventies, when you were in your seventies

It seems to be a running theme with Bioware games at the moment, Dragon Age had a lot of early teething issues particularly with collectors editions and especially on the PC... and then there was the whole fiasco with the Return to Ostagar DLC so if I am honest I'm not actually that surprised to see that there are a few teething problems with ME2 and the Cerberus network.
I'm sure once they have ironed out these little oversights *ahem* that the game will be more than worth the initial hassles.

Re: Mass Effect 2
I have just registered with the cerberus network and had no problem at all. I think perhaps as I have DLC from Dragon Age which carries forward to ME@

Re: Mass Effect 2
OK, I am 4 hours into ME2 now and am definitely not disappointed. They have fixed every major flaw from number 1 and added a load of cool stuff. Nevermind GOTY this could shape up to be the best game available on the 360. And here's a photo of Shepherd in the dragon plate armour i have imported from Dragon Age Origin [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: Mass Effect 2
So Mr niteowl, did you have any problems redeeming any codes or carrying forward save data information from the first game?
Basically have any of the previously reported fears been realised or has it all been smooth sailing for you?

Re: Mass Effect 2
No problems at all. The save data gave from ME1 gave me some in game bonuses and there is a screen at the beginning summarising your decisions from the first one [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] All of the DLC from the game box code is working as is all of the DLC that briefly popped up on the marketplace yesterday. Also got the bonus character which went online this afternoon. Smooth and easy process

Re: Mass Effect 2
That is very good news indeed... I had some guy from my friends list complaining earlier about how the character import from ME1 didn't work, but to be fair I'm not sure what he is talking about half the time and whether or not he knows what he is doing!
Well at least I now have it from a reputable source it's all working as intended!
