Mass Effect 2
First topic message reminder :
Seriously can't wait for this bad boy. But here's the thing, I'm not happy with my ME1 character/chocies so I'm going to start from a scratch on ME2. A reboot, if you will.
Anyone else getting it? If so, how will you start?

Re: Mass Effect 2
hmmm... I hadn't even realised they'd made a second expansion. I think part of my disappointment for the first was, that I saved doing it till I got truly bored of the replaying the main game. Then when I finally played the expansion it just seemed to end too quickly, so it was a bit of an anticlimax to my expectations of what it was going to be.

I'm actually beginning to think that it may well have been easier to start the Insanity play through from first level, at least as far as the AI companions go anyway... they are more of a hinderance than a help at times!

we need to put the effort in to make it number one.
The current number one is currently held undeservedly by some over rated, short shooter that a few people seem to be playing online now and again

Ok, having given this a really good amount of time on the Insanity difficulty I think I can now accurately fomulate my opinions on such and I am totally with Niteowl... it sucks... hard...
Things were going quite well up for me and I had no real problems up until last night when I got to the Horizon set piece battle... I know that it is Insanity difficulty, but seriously if Horizon is anything to go by this is actually stupid... no infact it is worse than stupid. One virtual slider has managed to turn what is a great game into the single worst and most frustrating gaming experience ever (and no I'm really not exagerating). No amount of clever play, tactics or skill actually matter... the whole things basically devolves into luck, that and exploiting the bugged and at times shit AI.
So for all you folks who love and cherish this game, I send thee this warning... if you wish to maintain your ME2 innocence and keep your love of the game alive then for the love of all that is holy stay well away from Insanity.

Re: Mass Effect 2
The Horizon set piece took a lot of time and patience, having to stand miles away from Harbringers so I could just reach them with a fire ball but far enough away that the AI didnt send them after me.Lots of running backwards away from Husks trying to kneecap them and trying to slowing kill a Scion who head is popping out of his cover location before they come runningThe Mad Ronin wrote:niteowl1980 wrote:Insanity difficult is really testing my patience. 2 hours working out how to take down a Geth Prime with infinite Geth spawning while he is alive, oh and by the way they are all running at you and deploying powers........

This game is unbelivably hare on insanity. It took me 3 flippin days to pass on stupid side mission on one of those unexplored planets. I was so close to restarting my game over that mission. Cant remember the planet name but its the one where you must go explore a crash site of a ship that was transporting mechs! Aarggh, most frustrating gaming experience since mile high club

Exactly what I ended up having to do in the end, no skill what-so-ever, just blatantly exploiting the AI and a crap load of luck... basically that whiffs of really bad game design...

I am determined to finish it though. Currently stuck on the collector ship section. Gonna finish off the 1000g in Bioshock 2 then go back to itThe Mad Ronin wrote:niteowl1980 wrote:The Horizon set piece took a lot of time and patience, having to stand miles away from Harbringers so I could just reach them with a fire ball but far enough away that the AI didnt send them after me.Lots of running backwards away from Husks trying to kneecap them and trying to slowing kill a Scion who head is popping out of his cover location before they come running

Re: Mass Effect 2
Right guys, I'm coming along nicely with this now... but there is one squad member misisng. On the left, next to Zaeed. No info or anything, just that simcard icon... will it be DLC, or have I missed something?!
Also, I'm almost ready to go through the Omega 4 relay... is this final portion of the game? I don't really want it to end!

Re: Mass Effect 2
Don't worry Monders, just go and get the Reaper IFF which you need anyway to go through the relay and all will be revealed

EEEEEEK. I'm literally buzzing like a second hand fridge
Re: Mass Effect 2
Just wondering what level people were before they went through the omega 4 relay? I'm right at the point of going through it now but am only level 24, have done tonnes of side quests and random ones from planet scans etc but was wanting to make sure I get the achievement for hitting level 30 in my first play through I'm guessing that I'll get quite a lot in the final stages of the game but just wondered

Re: Mass Effect 2
I dont think you can get to level 30 first time. I also did all the side missions and level 24 at that point and finished t level 28. Importing level 60 character from number one starts you at level 5 and that still doesnt help enough

Re: Mass Effect 2
Cheers I reckon I'll go ahead with the final mission then and get level 30 next time around

If you play an infiltrator they get incinerate too, as well as the (life saving on Insanity) Assassin Cloak!
