Mass Effect 2

Seriously can't wait for this bad boy. But here's the thing, I'm not happy with my ME1 character/chocies so I'm going to start from a scratch on ME2. A reboot, if you will.

Anyone else getting it? If so, how will you start?

Finished it off last night, what a great game looking forward to my second playthrough

I was hoping for a FULL weekend on it, but we're out tonight AND tomorrow. Arrgh, flumping social life, just flump off!

This whole social life thing is over-rated, who needs real friends when you have virtual xbox live friends

FINIIIIISHED! Wow, what a game. Well happy with it. I'm going replay the last chapter this week, go for a different ending. That shouldn't affect my character save, should it?!

If you save it over said character save then yes it will... I'm happy to play games like this through a good few times so I ended up have multiple saves from the first game... one each with the main plot differences to see what the different outcomes were in ME2... I plan on doing the same with this one.

Rumour mill starting to suggest that there may be a DLC announcement next month at GDC here

Awesome, be really nice to get some decent DLC for mass effect 2 any excuse to start playing again

Some new DLC would be great for this game, not really bothered about extra achievements with it but I would like some decent new missions that fit in with the overall game and don't feel like bolted on afterthoughts *cough*pinnacle station*cough*

Just got my copy today, I rented it but I can keep it as long as I want. Tha Network DLC is really 1200 points? Theres no codes lying around anywhere?

I think everyone who bought it new probably already used there codes I am afraid

Yeah I wasnt sure if it was a standard reusuable code or if it was only for purchased copies of the game, thats sucks. Should I DL it still though is it worth it?

Its not worth 1200 MS. An extra character and his mission and some armour thats all

Intentionally so to discourage rentals, preowned and pirated copies. EA will be doing it more and more, part of their "project 10 dollar" initiative info here

They are doing it in Bad Company 2. I guess as a business idea it's good. But for us, the 'buyers' it's not so good. If a game is £40 new and you get it for £30 pre-owned then have to spent another £10 to the code you might as well just get brand new. And the sad thing is that the more 'casual' gamers will have no idea about this kinda thing until they actually purchase the pre-owned games.

I really dom't think it will effect the buyers that much at all, we will still have a vast wealth of options out there from where to get our products, just look at this site as an example. People on here are constantly posting up where to find new and great bargains. The only people this initiative is going to hurt are those greedy buggers at Game/ Gamestation who in my own humble opinion blatantly overcharge for pre-owned titles. To be fair this whole situation is the making of game retailers who sit there and give somebody £20 trade in for their nice shiney new copy of Mass Effect 2 and then sell it on for £2 less than full retail, making a nice tidy £17.99 extra from it.

Has anyone got the achievement for keeping the whole squad alive during the last mission as I have been having trouble getting it. I have done all of the loyalty missions but when I get the cutscene where Miranda and Jack are fighting I can only seem to tell one of them off because the other two captions are blanked out. Is there anything I can do to change this as I have tried 7-8 times now and still can't do it, any help would be great.

i have not got the game but i remember on xbox live a while ago they put up a video about getting this chevo. if you search for the game on the marketplace then look at the video section it may still be there. hope it is for ya. if not try youtube sure someone has one posted on there

I'm not sure about how to get the other captions to appear in the Miranda/Jack fight, but I'm pretty sure you can still have everyone survive even if someone isn't loyal, you just have to choose the right people for the teams.

in my last game Miranda wasn't loyal, so I used that guide to make sure she would survive. Scroll down to suicide mission, hopefully it helps.

Thanks for the help guys. I will try the guide. I did watch the video on the dashboard but got lost. I was also wondering if I have to do everything Paragon.

I manage nearly every bleep bloop i have on my 1st playthru.. thanks to fully doing Everything in the 1st Mass Effect with 1 Character. When i loaded up my M.E1 gamesave the 1st time, i got a massive boost to my Renegade (was evil the last time i went thru) and a boost to my Paragon, as well as a boost to money, elements and level (started as a level 5,6 i think it was) which allowed me to choose the harder choice Paragon or Renegade speeches when there was a dispute between 2 crew members. So that allowed me to save the entire crew straight from the off.. and get level 30 right at the end

Loved the 1st one more, as it felt it was bigger.
This one came on 2 disks, yet only lasted half the time, with half the level cap.. i truly felt let down by Bioware with the 2nd insalment just for that. Everything else was brilliant

Oh my god I have now been stuck on this game for ten months. Got 940 g from the original game then started my playthrough on Insanity and got stuck at the ambush moment on the Collector ship. Have gone back to it this week and still stuck, I think I have the wrong character loadout. I don't wanna start my Insanity playthrough again but it's close to making me cry being stuck as I am

I just wanna actually finish it this time, not too bothered about insanity atm, These games take too long to max .

I remember getting to the 2nd disk the last time I had it, but can't remember exactly where I was. Forgot most of it anyways so will be good starting again.

That part took me several attempts on insanity, probably the hardest part of the game. I did my insanity playthrough with a soldier, main weapon I used was a sniper, the widow actually which you get from the collector ship. I can't remember much else about the character i used but I'm pretty sure I had squad disruptor ammo and squad warp ammo, I seriously took advantage of adrenaline rush, and I had Miranda in my squad for pretty much every mission because of her overload and warp powers.
