Dangerous Dave wrote:back in the day i used to work for tavern who supplied tesco/asda with the booze they sell, and it allways bugged me how they sold it cheaper that what they would pay for it so i asked the question. Nobody can buy the alcohol cheaper than the supermarkets purley due to quantity how they sell at a loss is very easy. they purchase the bulk amount on a 3 month credit then sell the alcohol and the money from that goes straight into a high intrest account which by the time the 3 months is up wouldve not only coverd the orignal loss but made a nice profit. i take it the same would apply to the games aswell?
That is amazingly clever and hey if it helps us buy cheap games it can only be a good thing. It's win win win win. The supplier gets what they ask, the supermarket make a profit, the banks get money to invest and we get to make a saving.
I know the independent sector complain but TBH I never been in an independent game shop that offered me anything in terms of service that the chains haven't. Independent grocery and electrical shops are different. They often provide a service that fits the local community but never and indy game retailer. The only advantage I've seen with indys is the increased likelihood of getting a game before the release date.

Re: *Official Modern Warfare 2 Thread*
if your playing mw2 you could be in for a ban or reset score.
As reported in the previous news post, MW2 is already being sold in some stores and at the same time being pirated by Xbox 360 users. Apparently many players have started playing online matches with each other and Infinity Ward is not too thrilled about.
Robert Bowling - "It definitely looks like a full leaderboard / level reset is in order just before the release date to ensure no unfair advantages."
Expect to see many Xbox Live bans in the following days, since many players are playing with modded Xbox 360 consoles online.

There are 5 Sainsburys stores (all in the south) opening at midnight, rest will be open as normal tomorrow!
Looks like i'll be getting up early on my day off tomorrow!

I think a lot of the pre sales of this game have happened in America as most if our retailers have not had their copies delivered before today.

Re: *Official Modern Warfare 2 Thread*
I think that coz so many people got their pre-orders early, due to panic over the mail strikes, Microsoft are only banning those using modded consoles, who've been playing pirated copies of the game for a while.

They won't ban you because a shop broke street date, so get it on and have fun they will no doubt reset all the online stats on the official release though

Re: *Official Modern Warfare 2 Thread*
I got the hardcore edition today. The game is amazing and on-line is excellent as expected. I downloaded the COD Classic as well. Its nice to go back to it's roots. I remember when MOH and COD were the pinnacle of FPS. Now COD has run away with it.
Speaking of MoH I wonder how long before we see a modern version of that franchise?

Re: *Official Modern Warfare 2 Thread*
Just got my MW2 for £26 in Sainsburys.
Got there at 10 past 8 and they were already queuing out the door for it!, when i got served there was still a queue to the door, and i heard one of the staff say thats the last of them whilst pointing to a pile of about 10 games. I guess there will have been some unhappy folk.

I think Toys R Us were selling it for £39.99 online but i'm not sure if it's free delivery or not.
Hope that helps.
Does anyone else think that Toys R Us selling an 18 rated massively violent game is a bit weird? Unless you can buy the Alien boxed set in Mothercare in which case what the flump do I know?!
