First topic message reminder :

The new xbox is finally announced at 6pm today. I personally can't wait. But what are you hoping to see? And will you be preordering today?

I'm hoping for a blu ray drive obviously to get rid of the multidisk games (looking at you LA Noire) a bigger, faster hard drive so I'm not stuck with a 1 minute loading screen when I turn it on.

The biggest thing Hardware wise I'm hoping for is some kind of game/screenshot capture card. I want to be able to record clips from every game I play, take screenshots just by pressing a single button, when I find funny bugs or glitches, all without having to be connected to a pc. Would work out awesome for making video reviews to post on here.

Gamewise I'm hoping they announce that Grand Theft Auto V will come out on next gen consoles as a launch title as well as on 360/ps3. Not really sure what else they'll show really.

Certainly didn't get me furtively looking for my credit card to pre order. Seamlessly this, integrates that, kinect, kinect, kinect. I'm sure they mentioned games console at one point, then spent the rest of the time going on about american sports and watching tv.
Seems kinect is a must have by the looks of that. Not impressed at all.

At least there will still be achievements! No mention of the always on, backwards compatibility etc. or did I miss that?

Saying that it's very cloud based so I guess it would need to be always on :/

To be honest they always were going to go on abou tthe hardware and no-gaming stuff as originally the whole thing was going to be revealed at E3 and when Sony broadcast the PS4, it forced their hand. I must admit the idea of having everything through one box appeals to me, esepcially as I'm not gaming as much. Having one box for all entertainment sounds pretty good. Plus it had everything the PS4 had on offer too, with the inbuilt DVR.

Just a little word to Microsoft, IF I WANT TO WATCH TELLY ILL DO IT THROUGH MY TV NOT MY GAMES CONSOLE, i want my console to play games and thats it. I dont understand this obsession with technology having to do everything. have they ever heard the saying jack of all trades master of none.

But on a positive not i think it looks cool, retro styling like a 1980's VCR, new controller looks good not changed to much there. reserve judgement on games, need to see some actual game footage rather than videos.

Worryingly little mention of the specs and power; I know it's the games that count but if I am going to be forking out hundreds of pounds for the thing at launch I want the graphics to kick arse too!

I was impressed.

All they want to do is win the next gen war and beat sony, that's the goal and they may achieve that.

They have aggressively gone for the US market as that is biggest, all the NFL fans can only get the fix on xbox one.
The COD fans can only getgab the dlc on xbox one.
The Halo fans the same.
Then the fifa, madden and ea fanboys.

I will buy both consoles on release day 100% then I will decide which is best.

Was nice they never mentioned twatter or facefuck even once.

They did not have the remote play of the PS4 though, that's missed a trick as I would have liked to have got some of you scrotes to unlock some harder achieves for me! Wink

15 exclusives in the first 12 months was a big WOW moment and 8 of them brand new IP's

Focus on that shit gamers!

The exclusives - New Forza, new Halo, new Gears, new PGR (hopefully) New Fable. Mostly sequels.

I am looking forward to seeing what the new IP's will be, so long as they're not just new bloody kinect games.

Got this from the link Graham posted

What follows naturally from this is that each disc would have to be tied to a unique Xbox Live account, else you could take a single disc and pass it between everyone you know and copy the game over and over. Since this is clearly not going to happen, each disc must then only install for a single owner.

Microsoft did say that if a disc was used with a second account, that owner would be given the option to pay a fee and install the game from the disc, which would then mean that the new account would also own the game and could play it without the disc.

But what if a second person simply wanted to put the disc in and play the game without installing – and without paying extra? In other words, what happens to our traditional concept of a “used game”? This is a question for which Microsoft did not yet have an answer, and is surely something that game buyers (as well as renters and lenders) will want to know

So if I buy a game, the wife has to pay again to play it on her account? If that's the case, they can fuck right off!

I'll be getting it on release no question of that, would have just liked to have seen more game related stuff, the demo made it look like a fancy sky box that you can control by shouting at or waving your arms about like a tit Razz

The controller looks cool though and I liked the sound of the cloud stuff, just hope that is included with live and not something extra

Both PS4 and XBOX ONE will both kill the used game market.

Its not a surprise.

When you think about it, if you want the game you buy it, if you don't then don't.

I am ok with that concept.

Also I am ok without backwards compat as I will keep my three 360's and two PS3's

Might be worth buying backup consoles too of the current gen if they drop to £99

"You'll also take your Gamertag, your identity with you. Whilst we're making a much bigger bet on natural identity with the camera, Avatars will also feature as well. All of the gaming identity that you have on Xbox 360 will be there on Xbox One as well."

What you won't be able to take with you is any Xbox Live Arcade purchases, as the Xbox One will not be in any way backwards compatible. However, entertainment content that you've purchased, such as movies, will carry over.

That's a huge crock of shit right there. Doubt many people will bother buying any new arcade games now after that imbecilic announcement.

Wow, all zero of the movies I have bought will carry over. Rolling Eyes

Doesn't look fantastic so far, but then again we will wait and see. It's not like I would buy it on launch anyway.

Just got the Zavvi pre order e-mail £399.99.

The backwards compatibility is a bit of deal breaker for me getting it on release day, it will depend what's released at launch, no point getting a console without a game you'd want to play.
