Today's the Day

The new xbox is finally announced at 6pm today. I personally can't wait. But what are you hoping to see? And will you be preordering today?

I'm hoping for a blu ray drive obviously to get rid of the multidisk games (looking at you LA Noire) a bigger, faster hard drive so I'm not stuck with a 1 minute loading screen when I turn it on.

The biggest thing Hardware wise I'm hoping for is some kind of game/screenshot capture card. I want to be able to record clips from every game I play, take screenshots just by pressing a single button, when I find funny bugs or glitches, all without having to be connected to a pc. Would work out awesome for making video reviews to post on here.

Gamewise I'm hoping they announce that Grand Theft Auto V will come out on next gen consoles as a launch title as well as on 360/ps3. Not really sure what else they'll show really.

Im not interested in hardware to be honest, it's all about the software exclusives and an improvement to xbox live, the in game chat has to improve. Kinect exclusives do not count either I want proper exclusives to add to the gears/halo/forza franchise. Those three just aren't enough this time around.

What I'm hoping for is news about the always online rubbish, backwards compatibility and no playing pre owned games.

There also seems to be strong rumours that we'll see a new PGR, now that should be awesome!

What I don't want to see is endless drivel about how kinect is integrated into everything and how the new console will be even more of a media hub and not a console.

More games and faster loading and better graphics and a pissyplus style membership option and backwards compat

i am just hoping for better games and a not so high price not all that bothered about other stuff lets just see what comes out no doubt social this and kinect that

I just hope it's main focus is on gaming and not on apps and Kinect. If I wanted to wave my hands around my face I'd get some glow sticks and go raving again!

I have a bad feeling it will be very 'windows 8' looking.....and i hate windows 8 lol.

Not sure I'll be placing a pre order for it, as dread to think how much it will be when it is first released.

Although I must say I was really impressed with the PS4 and its remote play and captures stuff, so surely XBOX will copy right??

The worst bit about xbox now is all the music, movies and ads.

The Wii U is 100% ad free and 100% movies and music free, its only about games. That's what I like about it.

Either way I shall be buying both new consoles on release, its cheaper than getting a wife and kids.

To be honest, the technology can go to heel, I'm interested in the games. I don't care about video and remote play. I just want a controller and a console nothing more!! To be honest the reason why PS and Wii U never appeal is also their lack of a gamerscore system. It's nice to see a score and feel accomplished for it, trophys just don't have that same feeling. Think in 10 years time when 500K is the norm for GS!!

There will be bits about the music and movies undoubtedly but hopefully not much focus and as for the Windows 8 worries, have you seen the current dashboard it's the same metro styling of WP and Windows 8 already.

Illumiroom looks good I hope that is part of the system, I'm really just expecting something similar to Xbox but with more power, I'm really hoping that they make sure it is a great gaming machine rather than playing up all of the media and social features, I've already got loads of options for watching films and tv and a million different ways to update twitter and Facebook, it would be nice to see halo 5, a next gen forza and whatever lion head have been up to, the rumoured fable mmo could be good depending how they do it

The new Xbox will be Windows 8 in a console and will be designed to be a multimedia hub I reckon! That's not to say it wont still be a powerful gaming platform, but I expect ads ads ads!!!

I expect the PS4 will be top of my wanted list after today. Sony actually want to re-create the great gaming focused days of PS2 apparently for the new gen.

No disc drive as standard.

Backward compatibility means buying an optional external drive which is also a blu-ray player.

Same issues I had with the PS4. Too much focus on how shiny everything is and social integration. Although at least Sony didn't spend the first third of their GAME console launch talking about TELEVISION.
