Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption is the latest game from Rockstar taking you back to the early 1900's when the wild west is in it's final death throws as the government trys to bring law to the land and Mexico is in the midst of revolution.You play as former outlaw John Marston a man who is forced by the U.S. Marshals to hunt down your former partnersThis game has been out for a while now and has already had its first DLC add-on pack: Outlaws to the end which is available for free download now and adds co-op mission in online multiplayer.

Single player Campaign
The single player campaign is as long if not longer than Rockstar’s other creation GTA and has just as much variety in the sorts of missions you undertake along the way whether it be herding cattle, shoot outs, breaking wild horses or rescue missions the story still feels fresh when you reach the 57th mission in thanks partly to the massive world the game is set in across the border between America and Mexico.



There is plenty to distract you during your time in the west as well with strangers to help out, mastery challenges to complete, hunting down bounties, clearing out gang hideouts and world events springing up all around you although due to the limited variation of these you will have seen plenty of repeats of the world events by the end of the campaign. It all adds up to make the single player very well filled out and adds a substantial amount of play time especially if you want to go for the 100% achievement.



Multiplayer
The first thing you will notice when you enter multiplayer is you are in free roam and have full use of the massive world of the single player game with up to 15 other players and can create posses of up to 8 people to go around and hunt down other players or complete gang hideouts for experience points which as you level up unlocks new characters weapons and mounts. Because of the lack of things to do free roam can become boring quite quickly and the introduction of the new DLC has helped extend the life of this game’s multiplayer with more DLC planned for release in July.



There are plenty of other game modes in multiplayer as well:

Shootout: is a standard deathmatch type game and is can be played as a free for all or gang match
Gold Rush: The world is populated with a number of bags and chests and the objective is for each player to capture as many bags and return them to any chest
Hold your own: basically capture the flag but with bags of gold instead, gang matches only
Grab the bag: Two gangs go after one or two bags and have to return it to their own chest



And the new coop missions where up to 4 players can work together to complete objectives and earn a gold, silver or bronze rating. Missions can be failed if all members of the group die before the next checkpoint and a new feature has been added where if your quick you can help your teammates out by reviving them


Scores

Design 9/10: Highly polished visuals with one of the longest draw distances I have seen in a console game and intense attention to detail.
Longevity 8/10: Can easily sink 100 hours into the single player alone though unlikely to be played through more than once.
Single player 9/10: One of the best storylines in a game for a long time and has a very well finished feel to it.
Multiplayer 7/10: Good but missing something almost feels like they didn’t have time to finish adding to this before release.
Achievements 10/10: Everyone should be able to get these but you will have to put the time and effort in for some, very well balanced overall though.

Overall 8.6/10

Now has co operative missions free to download. Containing 6 missions more achievements and challenges.

Undead over run download content and disk content. This has a great single player nightmare for John Mardsen allowing you once more to play with your fravorite character. The story is based when Jack is a young teen and after telling his father a myth they find their uncle coming home with a strange zombie disease. Its up to you John to then save the day finding the cause of this horror and also saving the towns from zombie invasions.
