Game Room
First topic message reminder :
I was sceptical. Scratch that, I thought this was another attempt to bait players into spending money on something they'd never play.
Then I woke up this morning, downloaded the Game Room and two Game Pack's for free, spend only 480MS points on two arcade games (Asteroids, Red Baron... Atari love over here)... and OHMIGOSH. Nooooossstaaaaalgia! I fear my Gamerscore may grind to a hault as I play Asteroids until my eyes bleed. That game took over my life when I was a wee one. Man, this might be my favourite downloadable anything that Microsoft has ever released.

Re: Game Room
I know some think these games are not that great, that may be because we have been conditioned for HD gaming, Digital audio, high def etc..........These games bring back so many memories of a better time in gaming. when playing games was simply for fun. Graphics are not well at all, audio stinks, but games pac man, asteroids, defender, gorf, etc.......will never be forgotten. for if it was not for games like that and so many others, we might not have the level of games we have today. I would like to see Jungle Hunt, Pitfall, Pole Position Keystone Kapers Vanguard, and so many others. Game room made me pull out my 2600 games and go ahhhhhhhhh home again. But be grateful there has been no announcement for E.T. from Atari.

Re: Game Room
I like the concept of the game room, but with the exception of maybe one or two titles, if Microsoft want me to splash my cash on the games they're gonna have to get some more advanced games..
I dunno, maybe that's defeating the object of the games room a bit, but there just weren't any titles that I thought were worth spending the points on.
Maybe they should just let us have the ordinary Live arcade games, in the game room as well?.. now that would be cool.

Re: Game Room
I think the initial game selection is pretty terrible, with all the classic arcade games out there you would think they would pull out all the stops for a big launch instead of throwing a load of b rate games in there that were never very popular to begin with, Atari is the only company that has a decent selection on there.

Re: Game Room
The Konami selection is ok.....Road Fighter and Shao-Lin's Road are pretty good.....
It's also wise holding back some of the big guns to keep interest going for a little while longer at least.

Re: Game Room
They are ok for bringing back memories but I don't think they are particularly good games and definitely not worth paying 240 ms points for, I'd like to see Konami getting Gradius in there. Wonder if they have any plans to get more companies on board? Getting Sega, Taito, Capcom etc in there would start to make things interesting

Re: Game Room
Dear Microsoft Marketing Executives,
Game Room would probably be more of a success if you didn't release it broken with 30 of the least interesting games of all time and if you didn't wait until late April to release the second wave of games.
Just saying.
Yours Sincerely,
Karen Matthews

Re: Game Room
I've started on what I'm sure will be a slippery slope of frequent micro-payments and bought Battlantis. The funny thing is I'd never played this before, but it's quite good. Sort of like Space Invaders at Helms Deep. I'd still like the option to add normal XBLA games, even if they don't have the challenges or rewind options; I just love the atmosphere in the Game Room itself.

Re: Game Room
Infuriatingly, the gamepacks now include 2 weeks worth of games, they just keep the rest of them locked out until the following week.....

Re: Game Room
I couldn't work out what the new games were???
Is there a way to see what the newest ones are each week?
Or do you have to just scroll through the whole list?

Re: Game Room
These are the games released this week according to the x360a forums.....
Asteroids
Demons to Diamonds
Grand Prix
Shark! Shark!
Space Duel
Stampede
Time Pilot
Also....if you transfer the gamepack to a USB you can do some digging and find out the next weeks games.....
Boxing
Buzz Bombers
Haunted House
Millipede
River Raid
Spider Fighter
Strategy X
Although I'm pretty sure Buzz Bombers is on there this week, so I don't know how accurate this is.
