Empire magazine have done a list of the top 50 video game characters, have a look and see if you agree with their choices

I agree that Gordon Freeman is an iconic video game character but number 1, i'm not so sure. when i think of greatest video game characters, the first names that pop into my head are mario, sonic or pac man.

i know all of them are included in the list, but i'd have thought they all would be in the top 10 rather than mario at 2, sonic at 14 and pac man at 37.

there are a few odd choices, some i haven't heard of and some just plain wrong.

Does anybody think we could come up with a better one?

Donkey Kong is legend and shouldn't be number 48!
I'm suprissed that Jill Valentine didn't get in there but an anouncer did.
Not sure about there number 1 choice, I thought they'd have gone forsomeone more people would have recogised.
Suprissed Zelda wasn't in there as well.

I probably couldn't have done better but definatly not sure about all there choices.

I gave up looking after the first 5/6, the page was so slow to open for each one! But yeah i would have expected Mario or Sonic to be No.1.

Yeah I thought they were a bit random too, not sure if they have been voted or just randomly picked, I mean lemmings at number 8! Sure they are cool and it was a great game but I wouldn't call them the 8th greatest character of all time and where is Ken from street fighter!

i think they have been voted for because number 1 says 'perfect choice or vote down'.

i think if you're going to included ken from street fighter, then more characters need to be there like guile and m bison.

to allow for street fighter, it would need to be a top 100 probably.

I enjoy lists of things like this, but I think they have gone out of their way to look at things differently to what people would normally perceive to be in it.

As a very keen Retro gamer, this list does not really push all the right buttons, but it brings back some fine memories.

Definitely some odd choices in there, and the top 10 is a joke
