Nintendo Network ID coming to 3DS

Nintendo Network ID, the online user profile system used on Wii U, will be available on 3DS after a system update to be released in December. Those without a Wii U will be able to create one for the first time, and those with an existing account can have it linked to their 3DS.


Those who link their accounts will be able to combine any eShop balance they have on each system. Buying a Wii U game with 3DS money sounds deliciously modern to me.

Sweet! I have money on my WiiU and nothing on my 3DS....naturally the stuff I want is on my 3DS.

Keep getting an error when loading the Eshop at the moment. Probably best to leave it until later today.

Yeah im getting the same error mate, guess it was hasty to expect a nice transition for a change   

You can still link your ID via the Miiverse, but shop's a no go for now.

Have you downloaded the latest 3DS update yet? Go to your settings and do that first, then load up the new Miiverse app. It guides you through it in there.

Surprisingly painless process, seems to have worked although I haven't tried the shop yet

The shop's working now. I *think* all my credit has been combined, but I can't recall what I had on either format.

mines has been combined, had to force myself to buy fire emblem dlc so i didnt buy sonic 1 for like the 14th time since a 3d version just came out lol

If you create, or link, a Nintendo ID to your 3DS before the end of January you'll be sent a free code for Super Mario Bros Deluxe on 3DS virtual console.
