Nintendo Wii/Wii fit?
I've finally relented and bought the wife a Wii, (trying to get her more interested in gaming lol).
She is interested in getting either a Wii fit or one of the many fitness type games for it. Now i dont mind getting her the Wii fit if she is actually gonna use it, however i'm not spending £70 on something thats gonna live under the sofa and never see the light of day (i could get 2 new 360 games for that).
I was just wondering if anyone else on here has one or uses one? what do you think about them? do they work etc?

one word- GIMMICK
Its not like real exercising.
People should just go jogging or play sports.
Much more interactive and will give you way more happy feelings.

My other half has a Wii with Wii fit, and the wii fit board now sits under the TV gathering dust

Exactly, a mate at work bought one when they first came out. He was playing wii boxing, when the nunchuck controller thing cable snapped and smashed his £1000 plasma TV! So if you want to box, go to a gym, and if you want to play games stick to the Xbox.

Re: Nintendo Wii/Wii fit?
I got my wife the Wii Active when it first came out and since I dont mind a bit of exercise I decided we should do it together!!!
Well flump me, it has to be one of the hardest fitness routines I've ever tried, did the 30 challenge part of it, training 2 days on 1 off, first 2 days wasn't too bad, bit stiff and sore but thats ok, 1 day off then back at it for 2 more, third day of training had me sweating like a BULL!!!! found it really hard to keep up with the console as it wasn't picking up all of my movements. got too frustraited with it and jacked it in after 20 days, but thats just me, i dont like exercising in the house, house is for relaxing gym is for working out. I will say that i did enjoy it and did feel a little fitter than i did when i first started the challenge. and its only 25 quid!!!

Re: Nintendo Wii/Wii fit?
Cheers guys...
Kent - Yes i know that its mainly a gimmick, but as my missus needs to lose quite a bit of weight, she is too self conscious to even consider walking into a gym never mind actually join one. And the way i see it is any exercise is better than none. Hopefully as the weather gets better i can get her to go walking or get her cycling with me!
I have very little interest in most sports, i can only run/jog for short distances cos i have a bad knee. And working shifts makes going to a gym regularly awkward!
I go Mountain biking when the weather is better (don't mind a bit of light rain/mud, but draw the line at snow and ice).
I snowboard occasionally, mainly at the indoor one at manchester. But since the only mate of mine that does it lives near london it means going on my own, so i only end up going 3/4 times a year.
Only Toe Knee & Zindasguru - I was looking at the EA active in the shop when i bought the Wii, mentioned it to the wife and she likes the look of it. So think we're gonna try that to start with. She is gonna ask a friend of hers about borrowing her Wii fit to try it 1st.
