so it's official...
...I suck at shooters! Went online with Bad Company last night, and got well and truly pwnd. It was bordering ridiculous. Instant death, with no enemies even near by, WTF?!
I'd like to blame the afternoon I'd spent in the George and Dragon, but that would be a cop-out.
I did kill a few folk and amassed 16 points, then shortly after that I was on -15... siiiigh, oh well. The single player is a gasser so I'll just jib about on that.

Re: so it's official...
I wouldn't worry about it mate, everyone's finding out that they're getting thrashed in it.
What everyone's overlooking is the fact that there's people that play a LOT of FPS games, and there's quite a few people who spend all their time just on Bad Company. Keep playing for a while and you'll stop dying so much as you learn where not to go (big open areas, under tank tracks to name a couple of places to avoid), then slowly but surely you'll start getting a few kills and after a few weeks, you'll be able to hold your own.
If anyone's really having problems and I'm about, gimme a shout and I'll come play a few games with you, see if I can give a few tips (I've not been playing this game long, but I've played a lot of FPS in the past and I seem to be able to about hold my own).
Oh, and sometimes the enemies are arseholes. I've encountered a few people (only one or two games in the 100+ I've played) where one team thinks that because they've played the game 24/7 since it came out, that it gives them the right to spawn camp for the entire game. I wouldn't worry about games like these, just avoid them and quit the game.

Cheers RHB, I look forwrad to getting online with you ha ha!
Thom - Yeah, I noticed that 99% of the people were ranked up to the hilt, so they obviously give a lot of time to BC. Ah well, I did get a couple of kills so it wasn't a total wash out! I just need to practice. Not really played a proper FPS since CoD4 this time last year.

That would be me I think this is one of the best multiplayer shooter games ever, the graphics are good, maps are fantastic and then there's the magic bullets that get you around corners and also being knifed from 20ft away
Send me a FR and I'll help ya out on the battlefield
I've got a fetish with C4 at the moment

You've also only got the default weapons, each time you reach a higher rank you can start to unlock better ones.
As a starter you may want to use the "Support" class as you've got unlimited access to health packs and then as you progress and get to know the maps move onto another class, some like to stick to the same class regardless of the map but I think certain maps are better for certain classes

Some good advice there from IT man
I'm still only rank 18 but having the extra weapons unlocked really helps

Re: so it's official...
As a BC vet I can assure you that it get a bit easiers to follow after a bit of ranking up. Better weapons and better knowledge of what to do is a real help. Battlefield is a far cry from the usual FPS fair. The maps are massive and take time to learn the in and outs. The loadouts are limited so you need to choose one to suit your style of play none of this custom stuff we get in COD, and the health doesn't regenerate if you hide for a while (unless you have medkits). Even if you hide it takes a while before you stop showing up on the enemy radar. This all takes a lot of getting used to but it's worth it in the end. Still a very frustrating game a time though. Thom can confirm my annoyance

Re: so it's official...
I am absolutely bloody shocking at shooters!
My usual night on COD will consist of me getting about 2-3 kills in a match, but something like 10-20 deaths... For some reason I ALWAYS get shot in the back, and when I respawn you can guarantee that I'll get shot again almost instantly. If 6 of us run round a corner, you can guaranatee that if there is a sniper watching it, I'll be the one who gets it and the others will get through.
I can never figure out whether it's bad positioning, bad tactics or just plain bad luck... Perhaps XBL is playing a joke on me and I've got a huge flourenscent target painted onto me somewhere with a big red arrow above me saying "HE'S HERE!"...
Can get a bit demoralising at times *sign*

Re: so it's official...
I feel your pain, brother... I got a few knifes (knives?!) in the back last night, though no one showed up on my HUD. F*ckers!
I also got shot in the face by a tank more than once*. That was really upsetting
*Napalm Sprinkles, you little f*ck nugget... vengence WILL BE MIIIINE

Re: so it's official...
Oh, don't get me started on the knife thing... It really winds me up!
Me on COD with a shotgun, another guy with a knife at point blank. I fire and hit him, he stabs and hits me... I die!
I dunno if it's any different on Battlefield:BC as I've not played it for months.

It's the same, but on either game, if you hit the guy from knifing range with a shotty, he should die. You're obviously missing or something :p

I'm not that bad
However, I do play on a small 15-inch TV and I have to sit about 5-6 foot from it due to the size of my room. So I doubt it helps.

yeah, I could see that being a problem. Time to get out the binoculars.

Re: so it's official...
Well being a drummer it's a choice between struggling with small TV at long range, or dismantling my drums every time I wanna play a game... So I tend to struggle with a small TVas taking the drumkit apart when I wanna game and putting it back up when I wanna practice would be quite inconvenient.

Serves you right for being a drummer then :p I used to have a drumkit set up in my room, what a pain in the rear ><

Re: so it's official...
I have a drum kit in the living room. Of course, it's the GH:WT one so it essentially fits under the coffee table
Re: so it's official...
I have the Rock Band one in here as well, but it's not as problematic.
I'm always walking into my real kit. It blocks access to my window,so opening the curtains is a pain in the posterior, and the worst of it is when you come home from a night out at 4am or something, it's deathly quiet and you knock something which hits one of the cymbals *CRAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHH* and wakes up the whole house.
Still I wouldn't get rid of it though... It's kinda like my COD relationship... It's annoying, it's a pain, but it's also pretty good fun.
