xbox account hacked:the story

I found this interesting to read and thought I would share so we are all aware of the sort of shady things going on lately and hopefully we never become victims. I didn't even know you could Purchase Family 'Gold' Pack for the hacked account, purchase ms points and then transfer points to the other new gamertags which they then sell on as a bundle. Shocking.

I had my account hacked a couple of years back, bloody gutted I was, I now try and change my password often to protect myself a bit.

apparently people got hacked a ton over christmas because mircosofts fraud department closed for christmas holidays so no one could get there accounts blocked once they got hacked. i personally change my password every month and have deleted all my card details. i also try to keep my mircosoft points under 1000 just incase i do get hit.

I got hacked back in the summer, and someone bought 2 lots of the biggest points bundle you can do over live.. 5000 was it..? to a cost of nearly £90... wierdly, they spent every single point they bought on FIFA 11 Ultimate team card packs.

Luckily, M$ were able to track the offending Xbox, and refunded me the money after a couple of weeks (I was told it could be 4-6 weeks before I'd have live again, but was only a fortnight..)

most of the hackers are hacking your account and buying lots of points and spending them on fifa ultimate team packs and selling the cards either through trade or quick sell and then sending all the coins they have to there real account and thus gettig them free coins for fifa ultimate team


and for this reason i dont play against others on ultimate team because the will go to previous played and pick accounts from there and if i do get a message about duplicating cards etc i report them for tampering and put on avoid list seeing its all i can do

and thus why i have reykjavik iceland as my location so people wont try anything seeing as its mostly uk accounts because the ukers pla fifa more then anyone and so no one trys to kill me for making them look like a n00b online that 40 year old dide to the 12 year ol on black ops rofl

I keep a strong password on my account but the main way hackers would attempt to access your account would be to try ring support and pretend they are you and that they've lost their password, as they generally have no way of accessing your e-mail address to try and crack your password in the first place. I also don't have any billing linked to my account so if it is ever hacked the only MS points they'll have access to are the ones currently on it as I've never linked any billing method to it.
