A good way to get more for your trade-ins...
As I discussed with Kent last night, I was having a big clear out of my games and wanted to trade in probably about 50% of them... but knowing the game shops in town (Game, CEX, Gamestation etc) I knew I wouldn't stand much chance of getting a decent return... until I remembered my tactic I used previously...
Gamestation will match and beat any trade in price provided by a local competitor by £1 on each item if you have it in writing... Heres what you do
1. Go to CEX and find all the games you want to trade in...
2. Once you have done that, find the link on the page so you can view your basket.. It will look like this:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
3. Print out the basket (it shows all the values etc but make sure there is a timestamp on it somewhere, from that same day or they'll have to go into the back and go on the CEX website and check it themselves)
4. Take it to gamestation and they will beat the price by the aforementioned £1 on each item...
I did this today, and took in 40 of my games that I no longer wanted/played and CEX quoted me £203 for exchange.. Gamestation did their magic and I ended up with £243 of instore credit, £10 worth of points on my gamestation card and £5 off Batman Arkham City!
Bargain..
So if you have a CEX and a Gamestation near you, give it a go! I've done this on various occasions in different towns/cities so its not just a local thing Enjoy your extra cash/trade in value

That Stu is a great idea, haz sum rep.
I'm assuming you've used the CEX and Gamestation in Leeds to do this?
I've got a few games i want to trade in, so might look at doing this next week.

So yea the Leeds gamestation do the pricematch thing mentioned above :-)
Re: A good way to get more for your trade-ins...
Have you ever considered selling on ebay - By far the best way to get rid of games - ie.. Black Ops on averages goes for £15-18 - You wont get that at gamestation - I dont trade in no more, fed up with walking out feeling rather sore and limping
Re: A good way to get more for your trade-ins...
I've had a couple of bad experiences with Ebay so I tend to avoid selling on there now
Re: A good way to get more for your trade-ins...
thats a shame really, touch wood i havent had any issues yet - I have sold alot of vehicles and a few games on there - And bought alot too. It is in all honesty the most efficient way to get some value back from your games...
Re: A good way to get more for your trade-ins...
Dont get me wrong, I'll buy from there, not a problem, but I've been stung from selling a couple of times, so I either donate bucket loads to kent, or I'll trade them in using my tactic lol
Re: A good way to get more for your trade-ins...
Feel free to donate them to me... I used to trade in alot, I guess if i get stung on ebay then my faith in the service will deminish. I think hmv pay ok for trade ins but the cost to buy is a little more expensive - Your method is good though for ppl that trade in - I would never have thought of that!

He didn't mean donate directly to me mate, he meant send them to me to put in the prize cupboard for members.
We need to decide how to progress with this side of things as the whole thing went abit wrong recently.
