Gears of War 3 - RAAM's Shadow DLC
Microsoft and Epic Games have announced that new DLC titled “RAAM’s Shadow,” will be released for Gears of War 3 on December 13th.
This new DLC, which will cost 1200 MS points, adds a new campaign experience for the Gears of War 3.
The new content adds cast of characters both new and eerily familiar to the series, delivering more than three hours of gameplay set in a storyline that precedes the events of the first Gears of War. RAAM’s Shadow will also add six new multiplayer characters, the Chocolate Weapon Set and an additional 250 Gamerscore.
RAAM’s Shadow will launch Dec. 13 for 1,200 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, marking the second major game add-on for the game.
Sounds interesting, and more worthy of the MSP than a few extra maps I think

Re: Gears of War 3 - RAAM's Shadow DLC
Also noticed this extra bit of info in another article which sounds great.
- Spoiler:
- In addition to fighting as a new squad of Gears, players will step into the boots of RAAM himself, and for the first time storm the human stronghold from the perspective of one of the series' most legendary bosses.

Sounds great!
I'm just hoping for DLC that explains the queen, and why she is posher than the love child of Joanna Lumley and Hugh Grant. Then, i'll be happy.

Re: Gears of War 3 - RAAM's Shadow DLC
Anyone else here use the official Epic forums?
Seems people on there are on a crusade to turn what is a great NEW addition to the series into nothing more than Gears 1 with new maps.
Their endless whining about the Sawn Off is paying dividends and now they've turned their attention towards the rifles, claiming they're overpowered and need a reduction in power.
If endless mind numbingly boring Gnasher battles aren't your thing, I suggest heading on over there and voicing your concerns.
Sorry to derail this great and exciting thread. My Season Pass is looking like an amazing bargain more and more.

Re: Gears of War 3 - RAAM's Shadow DLC
Yeah I'm on there too. There're a lot of regular people on the Epics forums sick of the whining too. I wasn't on the Bungie forums when Reach came out but imagine they got the same thing about armor lock etc... If anything Epic will just give them a Old School Playlist which will shut them up. Funny that they don't think the Gnasher is overpowered at all it's nice that the lancer etc... can actually do stuff in this game.

Re: Gears of War 3 - RAAM's Shadow DLC
I think I've figured out why they're crying like babies so much.
They don't like the Sawn Off because they can't counter it, coming up with pathetic excuses like it's a noob weapon and it takes no skill.
When really it all comes down to their rank is suffering.
Think about it -
You don't like the gun and claim loads of others don't like it either. So what's stopping you playing private matches with those like minded people where no one will use the weapon.
Your kills/deaths, wins/losses wont show in ranked. No longer can they dominate in ranked matches with their precious Gnasher and it hurts them that they can't, so they cry, bitch, moan and whine like children until they get their own way.
That's the way I see it anyway.
@Stubby - Yes, you can mate and it's a bargain for any Gears fan.

Re: Gears of War 3 - RAAM's Shadow DLC
Yes basically the game isn't broken anymore so the Gnasher isn't the only usable weapon like it used to be. Also there's a lot less lag so people are probably finding out now that it wasn't them that was good but their connection and then they blame all these guns that couldn't hurt them before. You've also got to remember that the Epic forum is full of stupid little kids that think it's the cool in thing to rant about the Sawed Off.
It's not the weapons in Gears-3 that are the problem it's how broken the weapons in Gears-2 were. They talk about all the effort they put in to learning the Gnasher, but can't get in to their heads that it's a new game so while similar to the old there's a whole new learning curve for new weapons that make things more interest.
I myself base my weapon choice on the map I'm playing. I'll use the retro on medium-close range maps, The Hammerburst on big open maps and the lancer if I'm not sure. again sawed off is less use then the Gnasher on big open maps where you need the extra range. Also I like TDM because if your weapons aren't working you can try a different combo when you die.

Yes it is still available. I think they said they'd be keeping it available as long as it made sense so I'd say it'll be around until at least the third set of DLC is released.

Re: Gears of War 3 - RAAM's Shadow DLC
Some new info has just been released on the DLC pack - SPOILER ALERT - highlight the passage if you want to read
The events take place before Gears of war 1
-RAAM’s Shadow drops players into the events of Sera post-Emergence Day, as Zeta Squad is enlisted to evacuate Ilima City and protect the citizens against a Locust Kryll storm. Taking on the infamous Locust leader from Gears 1, General RAAM, Zeta consists of Michael Barrick (from Gears comics fame) and comprised of familiar faces such as Lt. Minh Young Kim (Gears 1) and Tai Kaliso (Gears 2), and also includes a new female comrade, Alicia Valera.
-Instead of the standard HoD mechanic, RAAM's Shadow introduces a new top-down view for targeting. You are able to literally control the Hammer of Dawn Satellite from up in space.
-Barrick will be the main character despite Kim's role as Zeta Leader. And of course, players can take control of the rest of Zeta in Co-op.
-You encounter a young, skinnier Jace Stratton armed with a Baseball bat.
-The buildings are intact, it's odd exploring these cities environments before they are completely destroyed.
-His gameplay will be drastically different from the average soldier. RAAM is surrounded by an aura of Kryll which acts as a bullet sponge while explosions and fire deal the same damage. RAAM can "blast" a column of Kryll at targets, which'll rip them down to the bone in seconds. Players will never run out of Kryll, but swarm ability acts on cool-down. RAAM uses his massive sword in close-quarters combat; he can either swipe it like the Cleaver or charge/impale enemies Retro-Lancer style! RAAM can also preform executions on downed COG
-If you're playing co-op, teammates will assume the control of two Onyx Maulers and one Onyx Theron. The players who play as the Maulers can reflect incoming bullets at opponents with their Boomshields while the Onyx Theron wields a RETRO SAWED OFF SHOTGUN that comes with two blades; allowing players to retro-charge opponents. There is no information about the Retro SOS being in Multiplayer; it's highly likely it'll remain a campaign-only weapon

nice, the new characters look great, Tai looks a bit strange though, I know it's a younger version of him but he seems to have a completely different face to the Gears 2 version.
