Rapid Fire Controllers Empty Rapid Fire Controllers

Post  HarryMonkey5 Wed Jan 14, 2009 11:33 am

Last night I was playing Call of Duty 4 with 9 other people that I know. As there was so many of us we could not play the normal Groundwar with 9friends v 9strangers and had to enter a private game of 5 v 5 During this I noticed that one of my "friends" (who I alway thought was impossibly good at COD4) was using a rapid fire controller which I think basically turns each trigger press into 4 shots.. what are your thoughts on this.. do you consider this cheating??

He was given a fair amount of stick last night because of this and eventually switched to his normal controller at which point he suddenly seemed to get far less kills - do any of you have controllers like this?

I did a quick search on the net for videos of people using these controllers and found the below..

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

It makes the Last Stand perk suddenly seem useful - especially as my aim is not the quickest..

There are 100% cheating, they make playing pointless and only really sad losers use them.
You may aswell pretend you turned on your 360 and just sit on the sofa saying "yay me, I won"
It is not sport, the true thrill is the pain os losing and slowly getting better.

I totally agree - after he switched to a normal controller he was not even 1/2 the player he when he was cheating.. I think the only reason that none of us knew he used this is that we are usually in a private chat and cannot hear the opposition complaining about it (which they surely must do!)

I guess before the new Dashboard was released and we were in normal game lobbys he didn't use it. He always carries a powerful single shot weapon which which totally tears up the opposition when rapid fire is switched on...

using a mod (im assuming its a mod) to improve your online gaming. definetely cheating in my book. that pistol with the rapid fire looked like a machine gun. I never knew this was going on.

It is something he actually bought, I wonder how many people out there are using them.. I personally have not noticed anybody killing me with one before; but to be honest I don't normally pay much attention to the kill cam.. the only reason I he was caught last night was because I was eating some toast and not actually playing and saw him shoot me with it on the kill cam - once I mentioned it to the other 4 on my team we all watched the kill cam and as soon as we got back into the lobby when everybody could hear he got it both barrels!

I think he got it off ebay..

he certainly won't get away with using one in a game with us again, regardless of whose team he is on - I think he got the message last night that it was totally uncool to use it; although given his surprised reaction I imagine he will continue to use it when we are not online playing the same game as him..

So how did you spy this on kill cam, did it show 4 bullets being fired?

I am completely baffled by this and why people want to cheat their way to getting kills etc.

Am I alone thinking that gaming is a hobby and that if you cheat at a hobby (as Kent says) you might as well not do it.

it just showed the gun he uses firing a hell of a lot faster than it ever has when I use it (much faster than you could ever do with your fingers IMO ) if he hit me with the first couple of shots I probably wouldnt have noticed - but he was spraying with it like it was a fully auto weapon...

Hi All, just joined your community. I hope to enjoy a few gaming nights online soon. Until I read about the mod for the controllers, I always blamed my broadband speed on the why someone was killing me in no time as I spent ages shooting at them. I watched the you tube video and it makes such a difference. CHEATERS!!!

Cheating!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've seen them on sale on ebay for about 40-50 quid.
I'd rather use a machine gun than pay for a rapid fire pistol

The thing about glitching that I never understood is that a couple of my friends to like to use Glitches mainly end up getting hammered whilst they are attempting to do the glitch.. on COD4 one of them usually spends about the first 5 minutes of a game trying to jump onto a usually inaccessible roof just so that he can pick off a couple of people who are not expecting it.. the whole while he is trying to get on the roof he must get shot 5 or 6 times.. it seems pointless.

I have heard of glitches in PGR4 which make your car "bounce" round certain corners so you don't have to slow down - just hit them at the right angle and overtake everybody else who is slowing down- this is far worse in my opinion than somebody stood on a roof that shouldnt be.. even so like Stiffy said, if you cheat at a hobby you may as well not do it....

I will be keeping my eye out for people shooting me with rapid fire controllers on COD4 from now on.. if only so I can then hunt them down and knife them silently from behind just so I get the feeling I am getting my own back Smile

The PGR wall bounce ive seen that being used in those tourneys that were on some obscure tv channel all about gaming. IT was a technique they used to get round corners fast without losing too much speed. and was allowed. Not sure if it was PGR 3 or 4 or was in or both.
It was the top drivers that used it not just crappy ones to get an edge. Infact im so dysmal at driveng im sure i would just crash the car into the wall. As i was doing on Forza 2.

It's patched for W@W. Although I've noticed sometimes that when I'm using single fire weapons, even bolt actions, I sometime fire 2 shots at the enemy without reloading. Although it doesn't come over in the killcam if it happens when I get shot. Think it's a glitch in what it displays rather than what it fire. Never though to check is my ammo goes down by 2 shots. Must do that later.

Edit: It seems they patched older ones and people have made a new one!

I have seen and been killed by plenty of MUGS using these damn controllers. It really pisses me off and is cheating without a doubt. I noticed someone selling these controllers on ebay modded for W@W and they were selling for £60 quid. Between that and the glitchers online, it really is spoiling the whole experience.

Have you seen how powerful the Pistol is with the modded controller.

The one thing I will say for rapid fire controllers, is the MAd Katz SF4 pad I bought.. had the feature built in, didnt ask for it, but its been useful in helping to unlock some of the challenges. Dont actually use it in fighting though.. im not a Ehonda/blanka/ chun li button masher typa player lol.

I hate this kinda thing and ALWAYS give negative feedback.

Just be careful who you accuse, lots of people can fire off short bursts of fast bullets with the G3/Pistols/whatever. The way you can tell if it's an auto-pad is if they're all perfectly even or sustained over a long period. Most people I know that can do it (myself included) can usually do 4-ish shots quickly, then after that they slow down quite a lot. If they're firing at a consistant speed, then something's up and I'd be suspicious.

By the way, auto-pads are a bannable offence by microsoft on xbox live, so it's never a good idea to use them.

A lag switch is a mechanism installed on a home network that allows you to insert delays into the flow of local traffic to the Internet. Lag switches are normally used by players wanting to cheat at online video games. Lag switches are unrelated to normal network switches.

Design of a Lag Switch

The basic lag switch design is a small Ethernet device where either the orange or green wire of a CAT5 cablE has been spliced to a push button or other physical switch. This hardware is connected between the game device (PC or console) and the home network router (or modem if no router exists).

Operation of a Lag Switch

When the switch is activated, the device is designed to function for a few seconds on a timer, effectively blocking all network traffic between the local game device and the Internet temporarily. Used during gameplay, the device causes the person using a lag switch to appear to opponents as frozen while in fact they are still able to play locally and gain advantages in the game. When the lag switch timer expires, the local game device will resynchronize with the online game that appears to opponents in a sudden burst.

I fuckin hate these things,I first came across them when xbox was released with GRAW.

Theyre always at play with in GOW1&2, all COD, GRAW1&2, RSV1&2, and basically all team deathmatches, hell, i've even came across them while playing clan matches.

I even got locked in a game because of this shit.

Woah Shocked
Didnt realise such things existed.
Still... the question is why the hell would someone want to use one.. ? Okay, perhaps "why" is obvious, to appear better, to win. But I dont understand it. What is the point of playing a game if you dont get some form of challenge, and ergo self reward for excelling on your previous attempts? Suspect

"Balls!" to peoples who use these things I say... Evil or Very Mad
