Free to play games coming to Xbox LIVE??

Well it seems a strange move from Microsoft who like to take our money but it seems that things are changing. With the recent addition of Kinect Fun Labs and next week's release of free games on WP7 it seems that MS have finally got a system in place to introduce free to play games. Granted this games are only being released with 50GS attached but its still free GS.

Along with this they are currently working through the Xbox live terms and condition to get PC hit Tribes: Ascend onto the Xbox. Could this be the beginning of a trend as they step up to try and challenge Steam. Will we start to see some F2P MMO's appearing as well soon. Obviously a lot of this is rumour and speculation but the evidence of Fun Labs and the WP7 games puts some weight behind it. Personally I'm hoping this will open the doors for MS and will make an already excellent service even better. It may also be the beginning of some nails in the Sony Coffin!

i think that its a good move by microsoft and like you say mate this is just another one upsmanship that microsoft now have over sony

So refreshing last night. I had cleared my cache to free up space for all the game updates to save having to redo them verytime I swapped a few titles over. Bulletstorm needed an update. It was 2mb and done and loaded in 10 seconds. On the Pissy 3 I would have missed an hours gaming.

It seems that M$ are everyones goto for kicking, but for me I have nothing but admiration for them. Windows Office 360 and IE all work as I want them too. Gawd Bless you Redmondites! /me wipes tear

I bet this free game thread gets less responses than the EA charging for a pass one though.

Every time I read another post like this it makes me even more impatient for my windows 7 phone.

More free stuff is always good. Haven't had a chance to try Fun Labs yet.

Might need to start a '50 club' section if this 50gs free game stuff takes off!

In 12 months and 3 weeks I will be in a totaly different 50s club and no amount of free stuff will make it alright lolz

Microsoft sometimes get bad press but personaly i think the gold is worth every farthing

The only problems I have ever had with Microsoft are:

I don't like PC's lol
When they took away my gold membership and thought that I hadn't paid when I had a prepaid card rather than doing it on DD.

Other than that they seem to be okay. But maybe that's because I only use a PC at home and the xbox (and soon a shiny phone )

Joking aside, it would depend on the games with the 50gs available. If they were all games with easy achievements like Dash of Destruction and Harm's Way, then I don't see the merit in a separate 50g club, but people would be more than welcome to put them in the 200 club posts.

This could mean that 200 club and 1000 club get re-named, but we can work something out.
