Knights Contract

Has anyone had a go at this yet? I have been waiting for it to go cheap and picked it up for £17 over the weekend.

It has loads of elements that promise a really good game but really lets itself down. The story is quite good, the graphics are above ok and the hack n shash gameplay is quite satisfying. Also achievements seem to unlock at a good rate with it being a maxable game if you're willing to put in several playthroughs.

What lets this down - lots of cut scenes and loading screens, a silly system where your character can't die but if you get cut into a million pieces you have to mash the A button to "revive", every boss battle has to be ended by a silly quick time event that is very punishing on mistakes, but the most annoying thing of all is your witch companion. At first she seems quite useful as you can use her magic attacks but she is weak to attack and the only way of healing her is to carry her around. So you find yourself having to hide from bosses so you can carry this little girl around with you to heal her! Think Ashley from Resi 4 - but more annoying

A shame as I really started liking this game but as HMV trade it in for £20 it's going that way first thing tomorrow
