asda to trade pre owned.
Asda have announced they with start to trade pre owned games. This means Game and Gamestation are going to find it extremely hard to trade. Not surprised by the cost of games in shop's like these.Tesco was £10 cheaper on chart games this week alone.I for one will use the supermarket more .
Game and Gamestation have only got themselfs to blame they have ripped people off for long enough.

Re: asda to trade pre owned.
Its a horror story waiting to happen for asda. I have heard stories already of people buying a new slim, putting there elite back in the box and taking it back for a refund and because the person behind the counter isnt an expert, they see black xbox and bingo his money was returned.
Also have you seen the prices they give you for trade ins? They are shocking, they still have miles to go before game and gamestation start getting worried.

Re: asda to trade pre owned.
I must say I think they will go the same way as HMV trade ins.
People in the know won't use them as the money they give for games is so low.
game has two levels, one for cash back and one for instore, don't think asda has the same?
BUT most people are stupid and not that savvy so they probably will get a stream of games in.
Afterall why does anyone buy any new releases from game or gamestation when they are always cheaper in the supermarket or online?

Re: asda to trade pre owned.
most of my new releases have been from the supermarkets. They always have plenty and are at least £10 cheaper.I don't have to go to town at £5 round trip. Good luck asda is what i say.
Re: asda to trade pre owned.
Price is not everything in life
The web sadly has brought us to a new ideology when it comes to value
The old way and the correct way imho was that people used to consider 3 things before each purchase of anything
1. is it any good
2. whats in it for me
3. can I afford it
Sadly the last government changed the perception of all of that to be basically if its cheap it must be the best.
Service and proper traditional values have all but disappeared.
To me the supermarkets are the internet of the high street. They use there ever increasing size and dominance to undercut supplies and provide the customer the goods, at what the new way says is best, cheaper.
This sadly though has much greater long term implications.
Ok so the top 20 chart or top 10 chart might be cheaper in a supermarket. But what about the other titles or older titles or obscure titles. They wont and will never stock them. So eventually when the specialist stores have been driven out of business you will find your choices are very much diminished. And who in Asda is going to be able to offer and specialist advice on tech....tbh I dont even like the trolls touching the food I buy but I realise that shelves must be stacked.
So our keeness to save a few pence here has massive long term knock on effects. The high street which used to be a pleasant place of varying types of stores all sellling different things, have either become a collection of empty buildings or a series of clones. As the ubermarkets take on more and more ventures, we risk losing any degree of choice long term.
Imagine a choice of only Tesconts or Asdapikeys to shop from. No other stores at all. For me thats a chilling thought.
And for those who think I might be over egging this then just try and find a proper old style off licence that stocks the odd drinks as well as the run of the mill. They are nearly all gone, because of the supermarkets price wars.
In my world the supermarkets would sell food, british gas would sell gas and the banks would do bank accounts.
Since everyone has moved from their core duties society has changed for the worse.

Totally agree with Evertons comments.....
Add to the list Greengrocers, fish shops and many others all put out of business by the large supermarkets.
I would personally pay a little more and buy from my local independant retailer than from a supermarket.

Re: asda to trade pre owned.
We are to blame for this though.
If we are honest we are all abit lazy and getting everything all is one shop in what we want.
We don't want to troop around too many different shops do we?
difficult one, I am old school myself, but when i do my own shopping all in the same shop is ALOT easier.
Right off to M&S now as I am a snob!

Re: asda to trade pre owned.
I remember years and years ago when a trip to London was an exciting prospect. All those rare CD's and VHS videos that I couldn't get anywhere else where just a train ride away. Now you don't even have to leave your sofa for an even wider choice of rare goodies.
I always used to get my albums, yes, vinyl ones, on release day from an independent record shop in town, I knew they'd have it or if it was really obscure I'd get them to order it for me. I asked once in Our Price for the latest Megadeth single, to which slothboy replied "Who's that by?" Feckin tool!! That was the last time I ever went in one of those so called "music shops" Now with Amazon and Play you're lucky to find any independent record shops still in existence.
Regarding Lame and Lamestation, I've no sympathy for them at all, the little they give you for trade in is usually an insult after you paid full price for it only a fortnight ago.
We live in a capitalist society, not a Marxist utopia, so competition and price wars are inevitable and I can't see it changing anytime soon.

Re: asda to trade pre owned.
Ours have just started to do trades. Some of them weren't to bad on the pries but most you can get cheaper online if you spend and extra 5 mins looking.
