The latest Gears XP event

Over the Labour Day holiday, not exactly sure when or what that is.
But the important part is, how much XP are they giving.
Well folks, they're offering XP based on the number of followers their Gears Facebook page gets divided by a thousand. They're currently at twelve thousand so up to this point we'll be getting twelve times XP, which I also presume will be twelve times the original XP, so it'll be six times what we're used to now.

Gears of War 2 Labor Day/PAX Event Multiplier Detailed

Epic Games' Rod Fergusson tweeted tonight that the previously announced Labor Day/PAX event's experience multiplier will be the number of Gears of War Facebook followers divided by 1,000. It is currently already at just about 11,500, an increase of 1,500 people since the announcement just four hours ago. No deadline has been set for when the multiplier will be set in stone, though Rod did confirm that he will not be capping this event. The sky's the limit, folks! The event itself will run from September 3rd through the 7th.

Fergusson also put through an update on the fate of Carmine, something that will be determined by the fans for Gears of War 3. The third Carmine brother is currently scheduled... to live! If you take as much offense to that as I do, be sure to grab your Carmine Must Die shirt (Male / Female) off the marketplace now. Or if you're a bleeding heart like my wife, grab that silly Save Carmine shirt (Male / Female). The "voting" for the fate of Carmine will end September 2nd. I should easily get my wings this time! currently halfway to Level 99, so i need approx 300k XP.

Awesome at it being uncapped this time . I remember it got to 20xp on twitter in about 3 days before they capped it, but it was meant to last for another week or so. So if there's the same reception this time it will be awesome. I expect there to be more than 50,000 peoople following their facebook tbh .

If it get stupidly high I might try and get the next 50.

how high would the multiplier need to be for me to get from 50 to 100 in 50 waves???

I wouldn't bother doing it in Horde, Kent.

A nice boosting session of KOTH would do you wonders. When it was 20xp, we we're going up several levels every game we played and that was when we were way above level 50. I reckon you could go up from level 50 to level 60 in a good KOTH boosty boosty session.

I'm in anyway. I've liked the facebook page. Labour day weekend is the first weekend in September, so I know what I'll be doing then!

Kent, i went from about Level 54 to 98 in the last event. I would have easily got to 100, if i'd spent more time playing KOTH and not messin about with Horde!

And if the last event is anything to go by there will be loads of peeps boosting, just swing your smokegrenades when joining a game of randoms!

KOTH is definatly the way to get it done. thanks to the 20x XP event i went from level 8 to level 100 in just 3 days using the KOTH boosting method so i'm sure you can get from 50 to 100 with this next event

sounds good to me. hope i can get to level 100 then i can finally put that game to rest even though it is a great game.

During the last XP event I couldn't find a game of KOTH that wasn't a boosting session, everyone was doing it. You also net a good three hundred thousand points per match doing it so level 100 should be a easy no matter what rank you're starting off on.
Just be warned it is very boring and you do sometimes come across the occasional dickwad who's sole objective is to ruin it for everyone else by dicking about and killing everyone. Probably because they've already got their wings, which could be a bad thing as more people will have them now after the last event.
Either way, just swing your smoke grenade and about 99% of the other KOTH players will respond in kind and be happy to boost with you.
I guess what Epic are doing in essence is giving everyone who wants them, their wings, they're just making you play to get them.

Of course we can always set up a forum boosting session again...

This is currently at 19,626 meaning so far we are getting a 19x XP event . And it's not finished yet. Hopefully it'll get huge with it being uncapped

this is now up to 20000 so well on its way to a high xp event i will defo get my wings this time as i am at 85 now and still counting

its now over 2 hours after close and the total number is..... 24,869

so it looks like it will only be a 24x XP event
