Party Chat help

I have had this problem a few times and dunno what it is...........certain members on my friends list i cant start a party with or private chat,if someone else has started the party i can join it with the people iam having problems with......example,just been having a chat with Kent,we couldnt join eachothers invites but could do it if my son started the party and invited us both,but as soon as my son left i got booted from the party,it says something about network problems.......when ive put halo 3 in the past few times its said something about my NAT not being open,is that anything o do with it ,and if it is how do i sort that out??

Do you use a wireless router? If you do which one is it

I had this problem recently and found that I had to turn down the firewall on my router not my PC to sort it

When Gears 2 first came out it would say that my NAT wasn't open, I would randomly get kicked from Live as well, to fix it I gave my xbox a static ip and forwarded all the necessary ports on my router, simple enough to do but it does vary depending on what router you're using.

I found this site awhile ago, its got lots of useful info for various router settings, as well as loads of info about setting up xbox live!

thanks for the answers but i dont understand anything you lot just said apart from`what router you using`......its a linksys one,it ddoes have wireless on it but i dont use it ,,,all my stuff is wired.....i can join xbox live fine and dont get booted that much...unless my phone rings then i get cut off...hmmm...help lol

I've had this problem with my BT home hub, ended up sticking it in the DMZ because nothing else worked!

Sounds like you need a couple of ADSL filters, you plug them in at either end of your phone line. I'm with BT and got them free when I got my Broadband. I'm not sure about other companies though, or if you can buy them anywhere. If you speak to your internet provider they'll hopefully sort you out.
