Doom 4!.. no, wait I mean RAGE!.. no, err Doom 4!

I'm confused.
Bethseda teamed up with id Software and are making Rage, an RPG that looks like the love child of Fallout 3 and Doom 3 and might be due out next year.
In the trailer linked below there's even a newspaper floating around that mentions an "Ark" being buried... and what looks like a spider-ant-thingy from Doom 3.
So is this Rage or Doom 4?

And then Bethesda's Pete Hines and even Rage's creative director Tim Willits start bigging up the actual Doom 4 which hasn't even been officially announced yet...

Looks like Rage is a prorotype run for Doom 4. Still looks promising though.

Yeah I got that too.
To be honest I'm looking forward to both Rage AND Doom 4...!
But I hope one is not just a beefed up version of the other... I mean, I'd like a bit of originality and I think id Software have been missing that of late.
Technical geniuses but no imagination.
