Battlefield: Bad Company 2 IGN review

What I think is the first review for Bad Company 2 is now out and it's by IGN.

They gave it a very pleasing 8.9/10, which is better than the 8.6 they scored on the original BC! The full written review is here and the video review is here

Same great formula, now with a solid single player game.

Closing Comments
Those looking at Bad Company 2 as only a single-player game might come away disappointed. It's an action packed, gorgeous, and explosive game but it doesn't quite come together into a campaign for the ages. It more feels like an added bonus to the multiplayer game and for those in search of that, this is a great choice. Bad Company 2 as an online shooter is flexible and engaging, offering several features that the competition can only dream of. If you're looking for a more strategic and team-based change of pace, look no further. This is the game for you.

8.0 Presentation
The team at DICE went for a more cinematic and epic feel with Bad Company 2 and almost nailed it.
9.0 Graphics
Those backdrops sure are gorgeous. The destructible environments add to the chaos quite nicely.
9.0 Sound
Some fantastic audio samples and above average voice acting.
9.0 Gameplay
Solid shooting mechanics and an excellent approach to multiplayer combat.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
This is the kind of multiplayer game you can go back to for months and months without getting bored.

Looks pretty good and will definitely be looking at this as next possible purchase. I'm hoping there will be a fair few others on GSA who are into this so we can have some entertaining squad based gameplay.

I'll be getting it for sure. Cant wait for next week.

Never got around to trying the demo.....but, if it ends up anywhere near as good as BF 1943 is online, then it's gonna be well worth picking up.

Its gonna be a much better all round game than MW2, cant believe IGN gave ME2 a better review. Grr

I think at the time MW2 was a better game, untill the glitches destroyed the multiplayer. Even they tell you the review got a lower score based on the single player portion of BF not being up to par with MW2 but it seems the online play eclipses it by far which should be a good thing,

I'll be getting this next week thought the first one on line was excellent so looking forward to this.

looks as though getting a perfect 1000GS shouldn be too hard a task. Lots of online achieves in this one

First one was the Same just impossible to do them all.

A little friendly boosting should do the trick

I'm still unsure about this game, the engine seems too slow compared to MW2.

I guess if it goes cheap I may buy get it.

I might add this to the rental list and then depending on how popular the multiplayer component ends up being with the GSA crowd I may add it to the buy when it is dirt cheap list... we shall see!

I reckon I'll pick this one up, going to wait on a couple more reviews first though

I have heard some good things about this game. I think I've put this down as one of my next game rentals so hope it's good.

Really looking forward to this game now

Just got my copy in the mail today. Gonna give it a go in a lil bit.

Have been playing it a bit online today. Its a refreshing change not to be surrounded by tools in a FPS online MP game. I still suck ass though

I've been playing online only so far I must say I enjoy it. The maps are huge and I like how you can choose to spawn at your captured bases or with your team. The game also sounds fantastic. It really does feels as if bullets are flying by your head.

So what is the general consensus from the readers on this game? Is it considered to be a must have purchase type thing?

I think it is a really varied and challenging online shooter which is much more interesting than MW2. However, it does let itself down with the - only being able to communicate with your squad thing - so most games are done it silence. I just cant convert myself into a FPS player online, even when I am doing well my interest isnt maintained. It will be going back towards FFXIII I think

I quite like the single player mode on BC2 and i`m gonna tackle online later,i played the first one to death online even though it was laggy as hell so i`ll see how it goes later.

The single player, although rather short and linear is fun, but I think most people will pick this up for the multiplayer. I've only been on it for about an hour, because EA were having server problems, but so far so good. Think MW2 but with huge maps, vehicles, a fully destructible environment, and less bellends playing it!
