It looks like Microsoft want to try and get you to spend even more Microsoft points.

Depending on your opinion of the Xbox Live Avatar Marketplace, tomorrow brings either a wondrous new addition or another ridiculous thing to waste your money on - pets! Microsoft has most of the bases covered in its pet lineup, with three types of dogs (including Dog in Bag), three cats, birds, snakes, fish, guinea pigs, and of course, monkeys. They'll even have a pony up for sale, making countless childhood dreams come true with the push of a button.

Oh Good Grief. Now I'll have to distract the Missus from Avatar Marketplace. Why, oh why did they have to put cats in there?!? Having the house crawling with them won't be enough... she'll want them on the flashy tellybox too. Hmmmmph. I suppose I could fork out on chocolate and shiny things to grab her attention whenever she heads toward the Xbox until all available points have been spent on, well, games.

Only time I've ever been tempted to buy anything is when I saw the lightsaber, but then I saw sense. The only stuff I've got for my avatar is what I've unlocked from Splosion Man and Waypoint.

I refuse to buy avatar items, as they are quite frankly a bloody rip off and total waste of money... the only things my avatar will ever have are those things in the base 'wardrobe' and anything unlocked via a game... but kudos to M$ for finding yet another way to part the masses with the 'hard earned' cash.

I actually don't get the whole buying of avatar items now that games have started to bring them in as part of achievements. I did buy some items at the begining but now i've lost sight of why i bought them.

Its always a choice to buy or not, and it adds originality.

I enjoy looking at the different way my friends list appears as folks chop and change


I only hope they at some point bring out Premier League footy team kits as I think I might be spending again then too. Cant really understand why thats not already been done as I guess it would be a massive seller. If M$ is reading and you like the idea please send me free money

I always find it funny how folks knock companies for giving them more choice, and then at work I end up having to chop and change the way I do my business because apparently in surveys people always want more choice!

I'm not against choice I'm just against wasting money on pointless crap that serves no purpose

Adding unlockable avatar items into games is a genius idea, charging people £4 for a frickin lightsaber is not!

well im a sucker for animals, so i've brought two. a dog and cat at least they have a good home.

I just wish I could unlock a gun for my avatar to go with my ODST suit.
