I really did not like Mass (snore) effect, way too slow for me and far too many cutscenes and talking.
This will be one to avoid.

I absolutly loved Mass Effect and I hope they do a great job with the next one. I also hope that again they don't put in a multiplayer as I think that will ruin the single player. For me it's a shame that we will have to wait until 2010 for a sequel, hope it's not disappointing

I finished ME1 well too early. Gutted, I still had loads left to do! But seeing as I'd put 24+ hours in, there was no way I was starting over. Sigh. Roll on part 2!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who felt a bit let down by the first Mass Effect, as monders said it all ends a bit too quickly. I was expecting a 50 hour epic but found the side missions too dull to bother with and ended up clocking up only 20 hours before the credits rolled. Sad

Amen, brother. For those that have yet to play it, let me do a step-by-step guide to planetary exploration:

Scan Planet
Land in Mako tank, miles from anything
Drive for 40 minutes to reach crashed alien pod
Discover you can't open the pod because your technology skill isn't anywhere near the required level
Shoot some Geth
Leave planet

Rinse, and repeat, about 79 times.

However, it's one of three games where I got an achievement related to MONEY! I'm greedy AND I hate spending, even in video games!

Just saw this video detailing some of the changes that will be made in mass effect 2 and showing off some of what the game will offer. Must say it looks good, looking forward to its release.

Scheduled release date: March 2010

Ya i think ill have to play through it once more before it comes out to refamiliarise myself with the controls and story and to pick up some more cheevos

Awsome video mate, Mass Effect 2 looks great. Can't wait until March 2010. Definately think that it will be the game of the year for 2010.

Ya i thought it was a great game and im not really an rpg fan. Its the only rpg ive been able to get into properly. A bit more variety in side missions and mass effect 2 will be a strong contender to knock bioshock off its perch as my favourite xbox game!

i enjoyed playing it, it took me a few months to complete it oly because its a game that i couldnt sit down and play for any long period of time.

ill be interested to see what they do with ME2

If you'd asked me what I thought of Mass Effect this time last year, I'd have said, "Nice dialogue, terrible combat". However, I went back to it ealier this year, scrapped my first character, started again with an different class and loved it. I'm a wordy sort of guy (you might have noticed Very Happy

), so it's still the dialogue system that I enjoyed the most. Nonetheless, it's probably my favourite 360 game to date. I'm quite disappointed number 2 isn't out for Xmo Sad

Yeah I've read that they're focusing on improving the combat for the sequel with suggestions that its gonna be Gears of War esque, that might be a bit ambitious but it sounds promising nontheless. I hope they improve things for the sequel and dispense with the mind numbingly boring side quests as Mass Effect remains my most disappointing 360 game to date.
