Bummer, my Xbox 360 (20gb) pro just died! Sad

I know they have a 3 year warranty for this fault but when i just registered the device on xbox.com, it says to click request new repair, yet that button hasn't appeared, and a ig red box around my warranty status is saying out warranty!? no way have i had this 3 years!

call them on the phone mate, I have had one repaired for free out of warranty myself.
Also maybe the shop you bought it from will replace it.
But whatever you do keep hold of your HARDDRIVE

I work for an electrical retailer and its where I got my console, unfortunately after a year we're forced to. Through microsot for rpairs/exchanges! This sucks I just rinsed avatar and was just doing the same to mirrors edge :-(

Not saying you should.. but why not take the xbox & swap it with one of the other xboxes you'll have in storage in the store! - the downside to this is you'll have to make sure your not on the receiving end of the customer complaint when they bring it back! Shocked

Note : bad karma may occur if you do this.

failing that, and you might not want to splash the cash, but you could buy a new arcade system, essentially just replacing the xbox itself..
From MS' site, there's a way to transfer DLC & stuff from your previous xbox to your new xbox (you can do this once per year)

Or, if your feeling extra flush, there's rumour of a price drop of the elite down to Pro retail prices.. so you could hold off buying one for that fancy new HDD size & either get the cheaper elite, or a pro with deals on retailers.

Or nick one from work.. tell em its your bonus that they stiffed you on this year. ;-)

its says out of warranty, but that is just the general warranty, i dont think it counts for the red ring. what error message did you get? just give give ms a ring it should be ok

yeh red ring is done for free m8t call them and if they say you have to pay, then say im going to The Big Black Dust Collector that plays DVD's then, see what happens then. i said this when mine died last time and they then offered me a new consol.

I only have to pay this time because its a lazer fault.

I just phoned them and got a very helpfull chap on the phone. he's emailing me some ups stickers to print off and send my console away for a free repair (even with it being outside 3 years apparently) so excellent i guess, still 3 weeks without an xbox sucks.

Good news aside from the fact they never actually sent me any shipping labels, I've come to the conclusion that they can go flump themselves, I think i'll go out later and buy the 60gb version now its dropped down to 149 quid.
