LEGO MARVEL AVENGERS - Mini Review Empty LEGO MARVEL AVENGERS - Mini Review

Post  Tricky34 Mon Feb 01, 2016 3:15 pm

Lego Marvel Avengers is the most recent addition to the Lego games franchise. An arcade platformer with open world areas. It's a LEGO game, if you don't know what to expect by now then where have you been hiding? Most of the game levels feature around the 2 Avengers movies, but there are a couple of others taken from other Marvel movies too (Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier).

The graphics are very nice, with lots of nice touches to details, and the open world areas (especially Manhatten) are pretty big.

Sound quality is very good, with lots of voice clips taken directly from the movies, although some of them seem to be a bit random, and can get annoying after a while.

The game difficulty is pretty Easy, like most Lego games, the hardest thing will be getting all the collectibles. I've currently played about 15 hours, and I have played all the levels, and I'm now going back on Free Play to try and find the elusive Red/Gold Bricks, Minikits & Character tokens. This is still going to leave lots of extras in the Hub (free roam) areas. For anyone who played Marvel Superheroes, I'm very pleased to say that the flying dynamics are much better this time around.

Most of the Achievements are easily obtained, but of course there are the usual collect all and reach 100% type cheevos, to keep you coming back. There are no co-op based achievements this time either, so it can be completed without the need of a 2nd pad.

Overall Score: I'd give it 8.5 out of 10 there's not really anything new, but It's well presented and fun to play.

Nice mini review. No doubt the boy will be telling us this is out on a regular basis (his way of saying he wants it lol) so I imagine we'll get this at some point, although I imagine it will be around his birthday.

Good stuff!

I heard the combat was worse and more repetitive with quick time events?

Nice work Trickles.

Looks like a good game. I've gone right off Lego games nowadays. Can't be arsed with the grind of em, althought they are lovely games for sure.

The Boss type battles are a bit naff with the inclusion of the QTEs, but other than that the combat is just standard LEGO button mashing. Although there are more special moves, that use both characters. Such as Thor hitting Captain America's Shield to create a destructive shock wave.
