Re: Live Headsets
I bought a wireless one, only used it once so it was a waste of money. I like the standard ones, they do the job and are either free or cheap.

Re: Live Headsets
i have a drawer full of faulty wireless headsets, the batteries only last 8 months if your lucky, then its a nightmare ringing xbox to complain and get a new one.
Re: Live Headsets
I prefer the wireless mics because the sound quality is superb and all of the wired mics ive had the little pin that goes into yoour pad keeps breaking off inside the controller.

Re: Live Headsets
I have quite a selection of hardware and have tried most offical stuff.
I got the wireless one over a year ago and it's still going strong. Voice is clear and battery life is still good.
The Halo 2 wired headset by Plantroincs is the best wired headset I've ever used. It is an in ear design and looks awesome, sound is clear. A quick search of ebay and amazon is showing them at about £15-£20. They must be getting rare as I got mine for £10.
Only problem is no in line controls. Datel do an adapter for any 2.5mm headset which gives you in line controls but it's no good if you use the chat pad like i do. I might get back into hobby electronics and make a couple of adapters myself. Time to go to Maplin methinks.
There are plenty of options on amazon for other wired one but this one caught my eye.

Similar fitting style as the wireless and probably lighter so should be really comfortable.

Oo! funnily enough I was after another mic or two, and I like the look of that.. very tempted... might give that a go actually.. Thought the plantronics one sounds like a good idea.. I know from working in call centres that they're a highly used brand for the quality so might look that up..
[EDIT]: OOOO!!! Even that Halo 2 one looks pretty niffy, shame about the lack of mute button though.
BTW it seems plantronics have also released a follow up to the Halo 2 head set and that one DOES have a mute option.. again it look pretty groovy, BUT on ebay at the mo its only available from the USA, meaning that the shipping rates are stupidly high.
