Didn't think the Mario games had any particular chronology or overall story? Think again. One fan has proposed a chronology and theory for all the games in the Mario series and it holds a lot of water actually. Seems to make perfect sense, and it explains how Bowser and Mario could go karting together when they are usually swoen enemies!

I wonder how many times the word super was said in that video. I'm guessing too many. I watched the whole thing but understood nothing as I never played any of the Mario games for longer than a couple of minutes. still interesting video though. That guy sounds like he knows his stuff.
