Sacred 3 is a top down action RPG and is meant to be a pure hack and slash experience and very much like a modern day Gauntlet. I have heard some people calling it a Diablo lite or complaining that its not as deep as the previous game in the series. But these guys are missing the point.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent playing this game in its many forms!
You can blast through the campaign in single player just fine as long as you and pay attentiononly play the missions appropriate for your current level. If you do try and get even a couple of levels ahead of your current station you will run into trouble pretty quickly and start eating through those health globes your carrying sharpish!
This is where you might decide to have some other people join you in your quest for glory. You can chose either couch co-op or go for the full 3some or 4some online with your buddies or go all chat roulette with some strangers for the braver amongst you 8-)
Proceedings are fast paced and button mashtastic! If your not having fun then your not doing it right! Sure it doesn't have armour and weapons as loot only health and mana orbs, but that doesn't stop it from being damn good fun and something to play and just relax and switch your brain off abit.
The graphics are great with some stunning set pieces and some amusing if a little repetitive dialogue to keep you chugging along your way.
You get to play as one of five different classes and you will have to try all of them to unlock the achieves along the way. They vary enough to keep things fresh though so that's all good. Also a clever touch is too include an extra character and extra little campaign as download codes in every new copy. I guess this is meant to reward fans buying the game new and anyone picking it up second hand in the future will have to splash the cash. But the twist here is you get 1000G for the main game and an additional 90G included for free with the extra campaign.
Its all fairly short and you will have it done in about 8 hours, but that's far from the end as you need to play all the characters to level 50 and also complete the story on each of the difficulty settings. This means it doesn't get boring as your always tested by creatures of an equal level to yourself.
My main criticisms of the game are that it doesn't track which levels you have completed in 4 player co-op or which levels you have completed on which difficulty.
These are glaring misses and I hope they address this in a patch. Its easy enough to mentally track your difficulty level but near impossible to track how many players completed each mission as people drop in and out all the time online and you need to do all main levels with 4 players for one of the achieves.
Other than that its all good and I really hope I get to have a 4some here with you guys one night to spice things up and so we can enjoy playing with each other.
This game gets the Kent Hammer hack and slash award for mindless violence and corny scripting and I shall award it a 7.5 out of 10 only deducting a point for the criticisms I made earlier.
Re: SACRED 3 an Official Review
Good work boss.
It's funny... Despite this game's mostly awful reviews, I'm sort of intrigued by it. Partially because I've been sort of looking for some good old fashioned simple action lately, instead of the myriad of complex combat systems and control schemes. Sometimes you just want to go back to the old days when things were straight forward and mindless!
I wouldn't want to pay much for this though unfortunately, but I'm sure that despite the crap reception it recieved, it must have it's virtues....

Sounds like a fun game, and if it was available on the Bonio, then I'd maybe take a look.

Good work on the review buddy, sounds interesting but with Diablo out next week I can't see myself checking this out sounds like a good candidate for games with gold or psplus

Good review, like the gif image too, nice touch! This has been on my radar but not an essential purchase yet so I'll probably wait for a sale for me

Re: SACRED 3 an Official Review
I don't think I would enjoy this much. The idea of a game in this genre which allows me to " just relax and switch your brain off a bit" would bore me to tears. I could do that by putting Diablo 3 on easy difficulty but still have a better game than this.
Nice review as always buddy.

Good review bud. If I peeve get through my back log of games I might consider this, but as it is with diablo still to complete and the fact it will be on the bone soon I'm afraid I will probably overlook this one

Re: SACRED 3 an Official Review
Do you know the first thing I did as soon as I finished my review of this game last night?
That's right, I turned it on and started my legendary playthrough!
This game is really good fun and its not easy at all, stop mentioning Diablo as its very different from that. This game is more like Gauntlet but in 4 player co-op on the harder difficulties if you dont work together you will die.
When you die there is no respawn at corpse, if you are playing solo you have to start the level again and if playing with others you get to watch them play on and you will respawn when they hit the next check point.

Re: SACRED 3 an Official Review
Nice review.
I've never really looked too deeply into the Sacred games, even though I've been aware of them. Didn't realise there was local co-op though - might be something I can get my girlfriend to play with me.
Will have to look into the last one too if it's the same sort of thing!

Re: SACRED 3 an Official Review
Yeah we can do Kent.
Well I didn't get a code Colne Crusader, but then again I have not checked out the marketplace yet.
Not bad hack n slash game. Played about a hour last night and enjoyed it so far. Not open world like Sacred 2 was.
