Xbox1 backwards compatibility still might happen
Backwards compatibility could still one day be a reality for Xbox 360 games on Xbox One, if comments from a Microsoft executive are to be believed.
A Q&A session held in San Francisco with Frank Savage, Partner Development Lead at Microsoft, saw the executive fielding questions regarding the possibility of Xbox 360 emulation for Xbox One. Savage responded to the queries, revealing that Microsoft is currently considering emulation, though it'll be a long way off, if it does arrive at all.
Regarding whether there are emulation plans, Savage stated: "There are, but we're not done thinking them through yet, unfortunately. It turns out to be hard to emulate the PowerPC stuff on the X86 stuff. So there's nothing to announce, but I would love to see it myself."
How Xbox 360 emulation could eventually come to Xbox One is unknown, so whether you'll be able to play your library of Xbox 360 games, or have to purchase, download or stream titles via the Xbox Games Store, remains to be seen.

Re: Xbox1 backwards compatibility still might happen
if its a choice between them building something so we can use our existing discs or a charging model, I think we all know which way it will go. Especially as the rumours of a driveless bone abound.
I would rather they just built in auto sign in without the poxy spycamera on.
I wouldn't give a dog a bone lol

This wont happen and if it does like big e says we will have to pay a premium just to get a game that we already have

Quite happy playing 360 games on the 360 to be honest so wouldn't use it if they had it.

cant see how it would take to much trouble to do
I mean they have already got the backwards bit done

I have to agree, i cant see how difficult it would be to update the firmware on the one so that it can run the older games, kind of a mute point for me though as i still have and use my 360

My 360 is still going strong at the moment (bet ive jinxed it now), so this would only benefit me if mine dies......and if it does, I will replace with another 360, as I reckon this will be a long way down the line before it becomes reality.

Re: Xbox1 backwards compatibility still might happen
There will never be another console that's backwards compatible with physical media. They've learnt now that they can make money selling you the games again digitally so it doesn't make any sense for them to offer us that capability.

Re: Xbox1 backwards compatibility still might happen
I haven't touched my 360 since i got my Bone, but there are a few games i want to finish off on it. If it packed up i would probably buy another though. As for the backwards compatability, it would be good, but i expect it won't happen.
As for downloading emulated 360 games, theres a couple i'd maybe buy again, but mostly it would come down to pricing/offers.
