Has anyone else been playing this game?

I am not that impressed to be honest. The story is weak and cheesy and the controls are horrible.

How hard is it to pick up the thing you want! You often have to pick up the wrong item then throw that away and try again.

I am just shocked its the exact same game engine as the last games. Its the least next gen game I have played.

Its not bad, its just not drawing me in yet.

I just completed chapter 1 and its not exactly clear what you have to do next. Do you stick to the main goal or do you have time to do side missions??

Also the AI characters often won't follow you up buildings etc or will go running round a weird route and get in trouble when trying to keep up with you or find you.

not that impressed and would like others views please.

Haven't played it bud apart from at that xbox one pre launch event, didn't get amazing impressions there and with what you just posted can't see myself being in a hurry to get this one!

Not played 3 and only tried 2 for a short while . I did not like the save system at all . I think you had to find a rest room to save.

I finished it a couple of days ago, it's a decent game but I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous 2 games. I disagree with it being the least next gen though, the amount of zombies in some areas especially later on in the game is just mental, and they were able to do this on a fairly large map where most buildings can be entered without a single loading screen, it's pretty impressive and wouldn't be possible on the 360.

Definitely agree that the controls could have been better though and trying to pick up the item you want really takes the piss at times.

You're pretty much free to do whatever you want, it doesn't have the strict time limit like the previous games so there's plenty of time to go and do side quests, most of them are fetch quests though so they're really not that interesting.

The AI characters are useless, every time I picked one up I would usually just run to the nearest safe house and use the bulletin board to dismiss them. You also have a weapons locker at the safe houses that contains every item you've picked up, including all combo weapons you've made.

Thanks Ninja

So should I skip the side quests or do you need them for leveling??

I can't make vehicles at all and never seem to have the right combos to make any weapons Evil or Very Mad

Yeah you'll get quite a bit of PP from the side quests so they're worth doing.

Pretty sure if you've completed chapter 1 you should be able to build the rollerhawg which is pretty much the only vehicle you need, if you go to a garage you'll be able to access every vehicle you driven including combo vehicles. You'll need to find blueprints to build more vehicles and weapons, usually when you find a weapon blueprint the items you need to build it will be next to it, pick them up build it and then you'll be able to get the weapon from your weapons locker from then on without actually having to build it again. All the blueprints locations are shown on your map, you'll also get a few more after completing certain chapters.

Sorry to hear that Kent.
I nearly completed the game.  I love it. I love the weapons combo's specially the ultimate grim reaper. The amount of zombies in it are unbelievable.  No loading screen is great too but damm takes a while to load up when you die. Yes side quest is a little boring but does helps out alot to level.
I like the smartglass feature in it too. I like having my map on second screen. To be honest had no problems with the controls apart from picking things up. Soon as I got a survivor I take him or her to nearest safe house and get rid, using the pin board.
I never really took intrest with the story cause I knew there wouldn't be one. To me this game reminds 70s-80s zombie movie where its so bad but laughable when its not meant to be a comedy, but still want to see the ending(yeah I am strange lol). To busy to try seeing all the different weapons combos and vehicle combos to see how they worked. Love my fireworks forklift van vehicle combo and giving them zombies a flying lesson with the fireworks rocket's Razz

Not that often where I play the game again when I complete it but I will be in this one. Had so much fun. Yeah the graphics department not going to wow you like Forza or Ryse.

Ok I played this again last night and it does get better after the first chapter.

I guess I just feel overwhelmed by the amount of things you need to do and all those icons on the map.

also now I am no chapter 3 and only level 12 I feel underpowered.

Got killed instantly by a group of firemen when trying to get the tarot cards for the guy on the roof.

It does make me jump alot though!

It does get better as it goes on, it took me a couple of chapters to really get in to it. You're probably better off avoiding the firemen, prisoners and stuff like that until you've got some decent combo weapons, later on in the game you'll have no problems destroying everything in your path.

I don't mind jumping in to your game sometime if you need any help mate, not sure if I'll be on much over the next couple of days though as I'm currently dying with the flu.
