I held off and didn't buy it. Off to the shop on Friday , it does look good. Not played them since vice city.
Re: GTA V 1st impressions thread (Spoiler alert)
I'm still holding off.
15 people out of 22online on my list are playing it right now.

Re: GTA V 1st impressions thread (Spoiler alert)
Well I have done the install but to be honest I quite fancy playing Diablo III or some more Rayman Legends (which, by the way is freaking amazing)
Ah fuck it
lets all play rainbow six vegas!

Re: GTA V 1st impressions thread (Spoiler alert)
well installed and started it
I will be kind and call it a slow burner
I would be a rich man if I had a pound for everytime I have heard the n word
car seems very floaty and twitchy but it looks nice
can see its a massive game
you seem to need to be able to watch 10 places on the screen at once with all the info but I am sure it will eventually feel natural
have called it a night on it after an hour and a half
really hope next few goes make me want to get into it more

Re: GTA V 1st impressions thread (Spoiler alert)
@Everton- I am glad someone else thought the same!
People been giving it 10/10, they must all be from Compton!
Never does 30 seconds go by without the N word, I don't like that.
Drives well though, good to use the ability to slow time and weave traffic junctions easier.
Looking forward to not being this character anymore.

Thought tonight would be a good night to start Read Dead Redemption. I'm loving the "Vast" open world. Plenty to see and do. I wish I had a quid for every time I heard the "B" word! Horses are a bit floaty and twitchy!

Sounds like GTA San Andreas. I didn't get on with that game - definitely the worst GTA of them all.KENT HAMMER wrote:Never does 30 seconds go by without the N word, I don't like that.
From the trailers I kind of got the impression that you had multiple characters to choose from and took them all the way through the campaign. I guess you swap and change throughout the story then? Seems kind of restrictive.KENT HAMMER wrote:Looking forward to not being this character anymore.
I noticed you playing that earlier, it was quite amusing in amongst all those GTAs.Colne wrote:Thought tonight would be a good night to start Read Dead Redemption. I'm loving the "Vast" open world. Re: GTA V 1st impressions thread (Spoiler alert)
I wasn't going to bother with this today but I given the afternoon off to compensate for a 4:30(!) start yesterday so picked a copy up on my way home. Really liking it so far, the story is average but it usually is in gta games, I've had more fun just exploring and doing my own thing than following the story missions and there seems to be tonnes to do; the city seems really well realised and the soundtrack is great. Looking forward to the online mode, if its as good as it looks then I can see us having some good tgd nights

Re: GTA V 1st impressions thread (Spoiler alert)
Yeah it will be a title not for whoring but for longevity which is potentially great
I think once I have settled into knowing how everything goes then I shall get engrossed
My first little concern is getting Gold on all the missions. Not sure if this is an ach or not, but its a bit of a pita as you don't know what the criteria is for Gold until after you complete the mission. Not sure if when you repeat each one you just need to get the bit you missed or need to get the whole tick list in one go. Also not sure if your stats are counted when you replay a mission as what they were when you first attempted it or what the are when you replay it. I guess I will find this out as I go along.
My guess is that the storyline will get better and better but as Ba55setttt states its good just to be able to mosey around town. I just hope there is not that finish in 30 hour ach from GTA4 as that one I missed doing all the side missions.
I think I may need to browse the ach list sooner rather that later

Re: GTA V 1st impressions thread (Spoiler alert)
Agreed, I barely touched the story last night and just went off on a jolly and cruised the island; climbed Mount Chiliad and used an off-road scrambler down the other side, finished the night skydiving off the top of the cable car, found a code in my game case for the Atomic Blimp which I had missed, saving that for tonight looking at the cheevo list there is one for getting 80 gold medals across missions and freaks & strangers. I was thinking about the ticklist last night, it would be good if you can just do what your missing rather than complete the entire list in one replay? Looking forward to playing some more tonight and can't wait for the MP to come out should make for some amusing game nightsEverton wrote:Yeah it will be a title not for whoring but for longevity which is potentially great

Re: GTA V 1st impressions thread (Spoiler alert)
They used that mission style in Ballad of Gay Tony, if you got 2 out of 3 requirements the first time you only have to try for the one you missed and it'll count as gold, so no trying to get them all in one go
And nope, there's no achievement for finishing in 30 hours this time

Re: GTA V 1st impressions thread (Spoiler alert)
Enjoy it mate. The only GTA I've played properly is 4, and I kept getting bored of it. But with RDR I just couldn't get enough of it. Loved the storyline, the openness of the world, the scenery. Its not perfect and has its faults. But if a sequel was an Xbox one launch exclusive I would beg, borrow (but not steal) to ensure I had one.Colne Crusader wrote:Thought tonight would be a good night to start Read Dead Redemption. Re: GTA V 1st impressions thread (Spoiler alert)
I have not even considered looking at the achievements. I just play the game because with a game this big its too overwhelming. I just want to mess about on multiplayer to be honest

Re: GTA V 1st impressions thread (Spoiler alert)
Watched about 80% of my friends list playing this last night. Not picked up or ordered a copy yet but with so many people playing it I'll probably pick it up. Unless you all get bored in the next couple of days keep those impressiosn coming much better hearing what people on here think then looking at reviews
