DIABLO III XBOX 360 REVIEW
Diablo III is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 3, 2013
So Blizzard finally make a comeback to console gaming with a PC port of Diablo 3
For the unaffiliated, the Diablo series involves you choosing a typical fantasy RPG character class, and then go wandering off on your merry way through a medieval dark fantasy world full of decrepit cathedrals, ransacked towns and dark dungeons. All with the aim of taking out Diablo, a nefarious monster who is basically Satan. It’s a classic dungeon crawler that sees you progress and gain new abilities constantly, mowing your way through zombies, dark cultists and skeletons, all in the name of loot.
4 PLAYER LOCAL CO OP MAYHEM
Diablo 3 set 20 years after the last game, and focuses on Leah, the adopted niece of Deckard Cain and the adventure she has with your character. They’re all out to banish all traces of evil from the world and stop the prophesied end of days. On their way, they’ll run into companions that’ll help the cause, like a Templar, a rogue or an enchantress.
So how does this port from PC to the console?
Most of the systemic changes, at least, fit squarely in the positive category, such as offline play and the tailored loot system. Without Battle.net to require you be online, the console version of Diablo III allows you to play offline as much as you want. The multiplayer is still easy to pick up, though, and dropping in and out of a friend's game is as easy as it was on PC.
The controls, to me felt pretty good. The evade on the right stick seemed natural to be there for one example. Having spoke to a friend who played on the PC you may be more likely to be frustrated by the console controls. As opposed to the simplicity of clicking with the mouse. The only thing I found a little clumsy were the inventory menus, but nothing major. A good port on the whole.
I GOT SKILLS, YO!
This is a title that's specifically designed for multiple playthroughs. Dungeon layouts change from one run to the next, and certain features, like the crafting pages spent to level up the blacksmith aren't even accessible until higher difficulties. Diablo 3 on consoles has both "modes" and "difficulties." Harder modes are unlocked after beating previous ones, and affect things such as the speed of enemy projectiles, the speed of foes themselves, and spawning densities. Difficulties, on the other hand, are all available from the start which affect things like how much damage you take or inflict.
FEEL MY BLADE YOU FOUL CREATURE!
Diablo 3 has a simple formula. Kill things, get gear, kill harder things, get better gear. Beat bosses, get even better gear. Rinse and repeat. If you are looking for a in depth RPG with lots of character choices, interesting puzzles, plenty of sideline questing and gripping dialogue, then you will need to look elsewhere. If you are looking for the ultimate in hacking and slashing your way to epic gear then Diablo 3 does it like no other, and the console version is a great way to experience the fun. Multi player is awesome, wether it be online or local co op.Dropping in and out is as simple as can be. Playing couch co op is a real blast, my son loves it! I hope Blizzard brings all its next Diablo's to console!
Is it as good as the PC? that's debatable, not for me to decide. But considering how smooth the game play feels on a controller you can't find a better experience. Apart from maybe the Borderlands series, this has the best co-op play out there.
Welcome to my lounge Blizzard, you have been sorely missed!!
10/10

Re: DIABLO III XBOX 360 REVIEW
Nice review, I didn't realise it had local co-op, so that's a bonus!
Quick thought though: does each player have their own profile and save, or does it work off player 1's profile? And are all achievements obtainable as player 2 whilst playing locally?

Re: DIABLO III XBOX 360 REVIEW
Yes each player has their own profile and save. When playing with the boy, he loads the game up signed in on his gamertag then I push start on 2nd pad, push start and sign in. I then pick a saved character thats closest in level to his. All achievements unlock for both players.Waggly Bean wrote:Nice review, I didn't realise it had local co-op, so that's a bonus!

You can even play local co op and have someone join online (we proved this when I joined FBG and Minks game)

Re: DIABLO III XBOX 360 REVIEW
Excellent review Markav. Played this to death on PC so don't think I will be getting this anytime soon, but I know the lure of loot will drag me back eventually I do like the refinements they have made to the game to be more console friendly. The cross couch/online co-op is genius! More of this please sir

Thanks for the clarification. Sounds perfect! Too many of these types of games screw over player two while playing locally!Markav wrote:Yes each player has their own profile and save. Nice review dude, I tried the demo and it wasn't my cup of tea. I'm sure there's more to the full game, but I got bored of wandering around twatting stuff with an axe!

Re: DIABLO III XBOX 360 REVIEW
From the new look and Diablo 3's more simplicity compared to its awesome prequels I was expecting a console port at some point, nice to hear it ports over fine mate . Nice to hear about the local play =3 it's a shame couch gaming has died a bit because of the convenience of online play now but I'm loving the option. I'll probably get this game but I plan to get some other games first. Great review man I'll need to check the demo out later.

It is most of act 1, all the way up to fighting "the skelenton king". A good 2 hours play!
It will save your progress for when you buy the full game too, apparently.

Re: DIABLO III XBOX 360 REVIEW
Currently on second playthrough (nightmare) played normal set on hard but the last couple of bosses were easily defeated. I reached level 33 by the start of second playthrough. Hope for more of a challenge this time. I also unlocked the hardcore achievement last night which was amazingly easier than thought it would be. I played hardcore as the witchdoctor, once you unlock 'the gargantuan" you can keep a distance and let him wipe the enemies out for you. The acid rain is also particulary powerful

Re: DIABLO III XBOX 360 REVIEW
I'd be up for that at some point. Me and FBG are on the last act and around level 30/31 I think.
I was surprised how much I started getting into this as I'm not usually one for hack and slash games. I think having some one to play along with made it more enjoyable for me. Don't think it is one I would play on my own for any long length of time.

This could well be a possibility. We noticed that some of the bad guys difficulty seemed to get ramped up quiet suddenly!Markav wrote:well if you need the help of my level 33 demon hunter for that final act give me a shout.minkey_monkey wrote:I'd be up for that at some point. It isn't mine either, but I really enjoy it. I would defiantly recommend renting it first, but be pre-warned that you could very well end up buying itRogue Minerva wrote:cool review, but it is not my type of game might rent it
