Tenlo's XBLA Bragging Contest

First topic message reminder :


With the recent announcement of next month's Xbox Live Rewards event (check Graham's post here) I thought what the hell let's have an impromptu contest for all those XBLA titles cluttering up our hard drives.

So throughout April I challenge you all to complete as many XBLA achievements as you can on as many different games as possible! Who will win out, who will falter first, who has some right bizarre stuff backed up in their backlog? All will be revealed over the month.

At the moment all the prizes we have are pure bragging rights, but I will try and scavenge some codes and gifts from companies over the month, but no guarantees! As it's all fun there will be several categories to win in. Obvious categories will be most GS and most achievements earned, but I will also be announcing more random categories such as least GS and achievements earned, most and least amount of games you've earned achievements in as well as most completed games. Plus any more bizarre ones that pop into my head.

All in all it's going to be a good chuckle and gives us all an excuse to tackle some of those games lurking in our backlogs! Plus with the variety of categories I can think of, I can imagine everyone has a chance of winning something (thought it may take me a couple of days to write up the final victor's posts).

To enter all you have to do is join the leaderboard here (if the link doesn't work just follow the leaderboard on my TA page. If you're not on TA or just want to make my life a living nightmare, then just PM me your gamertag and I'll shift through your game list and do it manually (and prepare for some cursing and blaspheming of your name - no Xmas cards for you!!!). I'll take note of everyone's scores around midnight 31st March and keep tabs from there. If you join late don't worry I'll just keep tabs from when you do start.

So apologies for the suddenness of the comp but it's a moment of inspiration, hence the slapdash logo and lack of organisation, but I'm sure it'll come together. So let's clear that XBLA backlog together and earn some bragging rights and possible forum badges (just came to me that idea - I told you this was in the process of being made!) plus don't forget to sign up to Xbox rewards as you may as well get some free stuff from them too!

Is there a chance of a shiny new banner for the winner? I like the thought of it always being there under my posts for Colne to see, nothing could possibly spur me on more.

Haven't managed any Xbox time today. Managed a few points from Windows 8 though. Should get plenty of time tomorrow though.

Two days into the week and it seems we're still going strong. With the recent batch of free titles and the current DotW being mainly arcade titles, there is still some good scores pouring in.

So yesterday we had 11 scorers on the board with 94 achievements unlocked for a total of 1044 GS and a total of two completions. So an improvement from Monday proof that we all do really hate Mondays!

So of the 11, 4 people managed 50GS and under being GrahamoftheDead, Sumshift FK Gambler6464 and Leigh36295 with 50, 45, 45 and 35 GS each. Next we had 3 players score between 51-100 GS who were ShooterMcGavin, Myself and Team Markav with 85, 80 and 75 with Team Markav finishing off another Kinect Fun Labs title in Build a Buddy.

Now we come to the big hitters the 101+ guys of which there were 4. The first three of these were Colne Crusader, Waggly Bean and Stubbymite (who is coming back with a vengence it seems) with score of 164, 130 and 130. Ironically those 130 scores were both done on Deadlight but a different set of achievements unlocked! Colne also managed to finish Cloning Clyde bringing his score to a round number again!!

But kudos has to be given to Kent Hammer as yesterday he must have been doing feck all else but playing games as he racked up 205GS and doubled the amount of achievements he had unlocked so far in the contest.

To the leaderboard next and let's see how yesterday faired on the positions.

Well it seems very little has changed in the leaderboards though the gaps are getting smaller between the competitors and Kent jumps up a place to overtake Gambler6464.

So that's all for today, I don't expect many more scores to change as the week goes on but you never know when someone might make a sudden spurt forward. Seeya tomorrow!

Hey give me a break, I get up every morning and have to trawl through tons of pages of stats. If you guys just scored fewer achievements it wouldn't be a problem, the goddamn 5 GS achievements are the one that throw me!

I was going to say 'don't worry I haven't scored any 5 pointers today', but now I stop and think about it I probably have.

EDIT: And I just popped 5G about 10 seconds after posting this.

Well, 5GS is my haul for the day by the looks of it! Another busy day of zero gaming!

Mate I noticed the mistake this morning but said nothing. Waggles brought it it up. Disqualify him!

Maybe I didn't realise it was a mistake. Maybe I genuinely thought you'd had 1000 points taken off you for cheating and using family members to earn your points.

Right no stats today as well I've been out all morning and just had a visit from the NHS about my son. Now I just want to chill and play some games for GTASC before Minecraft tonight. I would be surprised if there was a huge change from yesterday but you'll have to wait till tomorrow to find out.

So a day off and well we have some proper results for once, in prep for another big push over the weekend. As such let us begin.

So two days passed and we've scored 3390 from 14 of our 15 contestants. Thats 3390 GS over 280 achievements with 6 game completions. Not a bad haul to be said so let's see how many each of us scored.

So three of us scored under 100GS being myself, Shiffy UK and Stubbymite with 40, 30 and 15GS each.
Next we have 4 scoring between 199 and 100 being Bawhawhaw, Leigh36295, TreeMunky and Gambler6464 with 140, 125, 100 and 100GS with Leigh also finishing off Dead Rising 2: Case Zero.

Next up is two players between 200 and 299GS being Colne Crusader and Kent Hammer with 220 and 205GS with Colne finishing off Sealife Safari. Next we have GrahamoftheDead, SumshiftFK and ShooterMcGavin2 with 480, 475 and 405 GS with Graham finishing off another two Kinect titles in Build a Buddy and 5 Micro Lab Challenge while ShooterMcGavin completes Sealife Safari.

Which leaves us with our two main contestants at the moment with Waggly Bean and Markav scoring 555 and 500GS each while Waggly Bean finishes off Deadlight. It seems a pretty good scoring for two days.

So onto the leaderboard and how does this affect the scores.

So whats changed in the table. Graham has climbed up a spot in the table overtaking Shiffy UK, Colne has stepped up past myself and I'm now tying with Sumshift FK. Other than that no big changes but still its the weekend coming up and with some manky weather incoming lets see some big scores coming in!

In other news I'm going to reduce these reports down to three a week as they are taking far too much time and most days there isn't a great deal of difference, so we'll have one on Fridays to prepare for the weekends, one on monday for results and a mid week wednesday report. It'll also give me a chance to get some scores on the board more often!!

Awesome update Tenlo. Something is wrong with my scoring Ive only just downloaded the Miniclip games and its not showing all the cheevos and they have the wrong time stamps..... Ive got 80 in Fragger 100 in Monster Island and 60 in iStunt.

Mmmm looking on my phone, I started it up to snag the free games after it being sat on the shelf for a couple of months. I've got a 805a0191 error Ive been playing the games with the wrong time and date. Not to worry I'm only playing for fun

I've just acquired these top secret images from the Team Markav headquarters in the US, and the child labour gaming camp in India! Shhhhhhhhh!!! Don't tell him...
