Gamecube recommendations
As I dive into join the ever growing retro group on here by buying an old Gamecube, I thought I'd ask to see what games I should aim to hunt out first. I've already got my eyes out for Monkeyball and hopefully I'll be able to track down a copy of the Ocarina of Time remake, but any others I should keep an eye out for!

Re: Gamecube recommendations
Pikmin 1 & 2
Eternal Darkness
Mario Kart Double Dash
The wind waker is the best zelda game
Mario Sunshine
Animal Crosssing- By far one of the most addicting games on the Cube, Animal Crossing offers players a true real-time RPG which continues to play even after you turn off your GCN and head to school, bed, or Aunt Edna's house. The Animal Crossing craze caught on so huge in America that a DS version helped launch Nintendo's first-ever online service. While any good Nintendo fan is still busy getting every item in the handheld version, there are a few great aspects of the original title (such as the GBA island) that shouldn't be missed.

Metroid Prime is great too, and I always liked Star Wars rogue squadron 2 although I don't think that time will have been kind to it!

Re: Gamecube recommendations
Everytime a new generation of consoles comes out I end up keeping the console and thinning out the games keeping my favourites.
I have both Metroid games, Zelda Wind Waker (my favourite of the series), Mario Sunshine (Mario before he went into space...), Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes (worth more than it did originally on ebay), Killer 7 (Suda 51 awesomesauce) and Pikmin. If you can get one cheap grab a Wavebird controller works on the Wii too. Love my Gamecube and if you can hold off getting one and don't mind a slightly damaged handle I've got a second one I never use and a copy of Windwaker which is all you really need
Edit: ahhh you've already brought one...well you can still have Windwaker if you want it?

Re: Gamecube recommendations
Don't have one anymore sadly but the games I recommend are definitely:
Zelda Windwaker + Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask if you can find em.
Starfox Adventures
Mario Sunshine
Mario Kart
Eternal Darkness
Pikmin
Killer 7
Timesplitters 2 (Not a exclusive but awesomely fun splitscreen mp)
Luigi's Mansion
Viewtiful Joe
Paper Mario
Metroid Trilogy
Super Smash Bros
Resident Evil 0-4
I'm sure there's more but they're the only ones I can remember right now. Just looking at that list bought back loads of memories, gamecube is definitely in my top 3 consoles.

Re: Gamecube recommendations
Most of the good shizzle has been mentioned I think, but I would like to give a shout out to Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, which is a very nice little game! One for you to check out there! I also like Final Fantasy crystal chronicles but some wouldn't agree.

Re: Gamecube recommendations
All my faves have been mentioned already except for Skies of arcadia legends and harvest moon:it's a wonderful life. Nice to see animal crossing getting some love, I got my son playing this now.

Re: Gamecube recommendations
All the best have clearly been mentioned, but I will +1 for Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, Skies of Arcadia, Super Smash Bros, Eternal Darkness and all the Resi games. Definitely pick up Resident Evil 1 as it is a complete remake of the PS1 original, and adds a whole new part to the story.
If you find you really love the pad (I think the GameCube pad is amazing), a GameBoy Player is also a good bet as it expands your games library massively, and allows you to play all the classic handheld Zelda, Castlevania and Final Fantasy games to mention just a few.
Also, if you've got local buddies to play with and extra pads, Mario Party and WarioWare are essentials. The turtle game in Warioware is one of the greatest party games ever. EVER!

Aye the cheque for my shares from B&Q came in today so I cashed it and picked it up. But that'd be great about Windawaker though Tree, you are a legend!
