Getting the family into gaming Empty Getting the family into gaming

Post  Colne Crusader Mon Dec 24, 2012 11:59 am

After spending all year being thought of as a weirdo for loving gaming so much, I usually use Christmas gatherings as an attempt to get the uninitiated to enjoy the virtues of a few games!

I've got the Wii on standby for a bit of Warioware, Mario and Sonic Olympics and also Dad's fave Wii sports bowling. I've also got the Wii Zapper un-dusted ready for some Link's Crossbow training, and even the Wii fit board is coming out for some Shaun White SNowboarding action!

The guitar Hero Axe is also on standby, and I've even dusted down the Buzz quiz controllers for the PS2. So all the usual culprits are there really. So wish me luck as I endeavour to get my family and friends to enjoy some gaming action!! What will probably happen though, like last year is that they'll just end up making comedy Mii versions of Trevor McDonald and Ming the Merciless instead of playing anything....... Sad

I was wondering what games you guys might be booting up for the family gatherings!!

Well its just me, gf and kids this xmas, so it'll probably be Sonic Racing Transformed as we bought it for my eldest boy, other than that there will be little gaming apart from me on my phone again!

No doubt Lips will be seeing some drunken renditions of various hit songs. and maybe some Guitar Hero. Other than that it will probably be me playing on my own

I'm spending tomorrow with my brother and sister-in-law so tht means Lips and Guitar Hero, my sinuses are shot at the minute, I can barely talk let alone sing and I am embarssingly bad at Guitar Hero compared to my brother.... I'm kind of hoping the Xbox stays off. Also kind of thinking I should stay home and quarantine myself so they don't get my lurgy!

I'll probably dust the Kinect off at some point. Kinect Sports always goes down well. I've also downloaded the Karaoke app, so that may well get a trial run. If nobody can be bothered to stand up, then I'll fire up Scene It.

Me and my girl will be playing Nintendo Land on the Wii U as its probably the best multiplayer game of all time!

Pikmin, Link and Mario all in one package!

12 games for the price of one and free with a new console.

My eldest has been glued to his 3DS since his birthday. Mainly good old Worms and Sonic, I must admit I'm impressed by the 3D element and the streetpass. You get all excited when you get home to see that green led on!

I'm liking the fact most of my family are into gaming now. My nephews have a wii, ps3, 360, psp and 3DS (spoilt bastards) and even my mum has a wii and 360 now. Still haven't played online with any of em yet though as no one seems to fathom what online gaming is. One step at a time I guess Wink

Kids are well spoilt these days aren't they!

My godson is seven and he now has a 3DS, DS lite, bloody Wii, ps2, ps3 on the way, a laptop and now a new ipod nano, and probably ten grands worth of star wars lego.

At that age I had a black and White 14 inch telly with a garden cane that I used as a remote control so I could change between the 3 channels that were available back then from my bed, a commodore 16 and a vinyl record player with disco lights on the speakers!!! Lol!!!

We are now a 5 Xbox family!!!! lol

I have one, my girls have just inherited my old one which is being set up this weekend, previously they had my old PS2 and up until last week were still using the Eyetoy games!! lol. The missus has a new slim 250gb with Kinect at her house, and her son and daughter each have an xbox now too!!

So looks like they are all getting on board with gaming lol, the missus even asked if we could play 2 player Black ops the other night!!! SHOCK HORROR!! lol

Brilliant! I had one that had two dials one for on/off & volume and the other for tuning the channels in Smile

The first tv I owned as a kid was an old Grundig Portable. Got it bought for me at Christmas when I was about 8 so I could play my new ps1 in my room. Loved that tv. Used it for about 11 years, even playing my first ever 360 on it for a couple of years. Now it's just gathering dust in the attic at my mums house Sad
