New X box Different Hard drive.

Hi all sorry its been a while since i came on because i just got back from the philippines and had to sort all my shit out and havent had the time. But anyway im back now.

I got the new black xbox 360 for crimbo and its all set up in my room, but all my Content and arcade games are still on my other hard drive, i recovered my profile on the new xbox and tried to re download everything but there is no option for download again, its still trying to charge me the microsoft points, I dont know how to recover all my games and DLC can anyone please help?

You need either a USB flash drive or a transfer cable to swap the content from the old drive to the new one.

You will need to do this as xbox marketplace/live will will need to transfer all the digital rights management licenses for all the things you have downloaded to your new xbox Transferring Content Licenses to a New Console

beware when i did this it then made me redownload everything to the new 360

not a problem if you have only a few things but I had over 150 files of arcade games and dlc stuff etc

its easy to do just go back through purchase history and regrab, but it was time consuming

can you use the data transfer cable for this.

I did use the data transfer cable but i still had to do this

But I might have made an error matey as its not 100% clear what needs to be done

But once I had taken the data accross for saved games etc, I still had to regrab everything arcadey and dlc ey to have them registered on my new 360

Remember you only need to register them to your console to play them offline

When online you can play any bought arcade game from your profile on any machine you have you profile activated on

i am just going to order my new 250g xbox we may be having this tread again if i get stuck.Managed the other fine though.

even when im connected to live i cant play any of my arcade games on my new 250g xbox. Im gonna look at getting a data transfer cable, but i dont wanna spend like 25 quid on something im gonna use just once.

just looked and game do them for 15 quid. But everyone says just use a usb stick cause it works the same way.

But another thing is my old xbox got damaged on the back from philippines, and wont even switch on now, so with the data transfer cable, will i just need my old hard drive??

Yes you ONLY need the HDD

the data cable attaches to the hard drive only


And the games will be playable one the same account as you originally downloaded them on only

If you have used another account whilst abroad then you will probably have issues
