250HD Released in Japan

The company has no plans, however, to release the bigger harddrive in North America.

Well if you are really desperate for the 250Gb HD you can always import it from Japan... the more people who do that the quicker those muppets at M$ should realise it would be a good idea to release them elsewhere.

Admittedly the import option isn't exactly a cheap one!

You can pick up 250GB drives here pretty easy from places like play.com sellers, amazon marketplace and ebay for between £90 & £110 they are new drives that people have just taken from the 250gb elite consoles. I was after a 120GB drive a little while ago to replace my ancient 20GB one (now on its third xbox after a few cases of red ringing!) and you can't get them anywhere unless you look second hand so I can only assume that M$ are phasing them out in preparation for the release of a new model.

I notice that M$ have dropped the price of the 120GB drive from £99 to £79 'while stocks last' hopefully this means that they are trying to get rid of all the 120GB drives in preparation for releasing a 250GB one

You can always hope, seems like it's a bit of wishful thinking however... it'll no doubt be released elsewhere in due time, but exactly how long that due time is depends on how long they think they can keep milking the "limited edition" 250Gb "super" Elites they keep releasing with the big new games.

Indeed, they will have to release it eventually as nearly every game that comes out now has some kind of DLC plus if they want to keep pushing their games on demand service people are going to need bigger hard drives
