Batman Arkham Asylum
Just downloaded and played the demo of this, and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. The combat was exceptionally fluid, and the controls were far easier than I thought they'd end up being. I'm seriously considering picking this title up at some point in the future now...(comes out at the end of August).
Anyone else played it? What are your thoughts?

I have played the demo - over and over and over and over again, I absolutely love this game so far, it's one of the best demo's I have played I only hope the full game lives up to the standard that has been set by the demo, but I will be picking this one up possibly on release, depends what else is out that week

Thanks gary, now I'm pretty sure what I'll be getting that week, Batman: AA bring on the good times hanging upside down and then haning people from the garogyles, I'm going to enjoy doing that over and over lol

Re: Batman Arkham Asylum
played teh demo and didnt think there was much too it.. i can see it being rather repetitive with you just cimbing on gargoyles and then falling on people... think this is one to rent for me...

Re: Batman Arkham Asylum
yeap, defo one to hold off on & see what actual reviews cover..
graphically looks fine (yay for more big, square shoulder pads on characters! )
but the demo did just seem to be simple brawler against the basic enemies.. & then stealth across the roofy-gargs to the next lot of enemies..
If that's the game through for the total number of levels it'll get very repetative quickly. (so much so that it may end up with the grinding completion, rather than an enjoyable completion.)
where's all his gadgets like the bat-gas that can take down enemies, using the bat-crawl to sneak around enemies, or using the bat-dance to use like a smart bomb killing all enemies a-la Micheal Jackson's Moonwalker

Re: Batman Arkham Asylum
i am sure that the combat is just the basics, i would imagine that the actual game will have more combat moves and i also think it will feature more gadgets. and it will also feature an upgrade system, so as you move through the game you will unlock points that can be used to upgrade skills and gadgets.

Re: Batman Arkham Asylum
I did like the demo but it did appear to be a little shallow. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of unlocks available though to flesh it out. But the one button combat (+ the counter) might get boring really fast. I will definately wait for the reviews but I think it might be one of those games that gets quite repetitive after a while. We'll see though.

Re: Batman Arkham Asylum
Played the demo, and deleted it already...bloodly 1.5gb of space???
It looked ok, had the gears of war visual image all over it..but seeing as they used the unreal engine, i could see why.
Will prob rent and see how i get on..
But like people said, i don't think that the demo delivered everything.

Re: Batman Arkham Asylum
Seems the 1st review is in for the game..
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Its based on a review of the puss3's version, but tbh it likely doesn't vary much on the 360 from the looks of things so far (exclusive DLC excepted)
Thing I'm reading from the above review is, is that its a 'paid for' review by 1up to allow them to publish the review first.. note there's not much at all negative comments in detail at all.. equally, there isn't much detail in the positives either..
seems they know an indepth review will get picked apart in comments/other sites so they're staying with a non-detailed positive review..
