Freedom Planet 2 Announced
On Christmas day developer Galaxy Trail gave also Sonic fans the treat they wanted. A sequel to what started life as a Sonic fan project, Freedom Planet. This time Freedom Planet has the almost legendary (to fans of Sonic CD) Christian Whitehead on board (he ported Sonic CD to iphone).
As with the previous game there will be a story mode or a classic mode (for those who just want platforming goodness). The main 3 playable characters are the same (yes there is still a cat that rides a motorbike) but this time they have chosen different sides as a war is about to break out. The levels will still be made for both speed runners and those who want to explore and collect.
In Freedom Planet the graphics were based off of Mega Drive graphics but in Freedom Planet 2 they are just beautiful sprites.

There are some great sounding new additions to Freedom Planet 2, Sega could learn a lot. First off there are gems that you collect that can change the rules of the game for a bit (rather than having to change the difficulty) so you can increase your attack power or add more lives etc.
There is now a guard button so if you know you're about to get hit you can guard, a great addition to platformers as so often I know I'm about to get hit but can do nothing about it.
The best new addition is what Galaxy Trail are calling Revivals, this is when yo udie you can spend a life to come back exactly where you were but with less health, extremely handy for boss fights.
Freedom Planet 2 will come to Steam first and then later to Wii U. If you loved 2D Sonic trust me you can't for this game. As a side note if you like the sound of it, the original is on sale on steam right now.
