Samurai Warriors 4 II is the final game to be released celebrating the tenth anniversary of the series. Some people complain that there have been too many games released in the series and I am here to tell you that they are wrong and incredibly misinformed! As any fan will tell you, its truly never enough and we have in fact been starved of a good Samurai fix and have had to make do with little morsels of goodness from the Epic Orochi series until now.
This second version of the same game is said to be the definitive one and kinda like a directors cut if you like, with bits added and bits stripped out to give us a really fun and challenging opus!
So now we are presented with the story lines focused on thirteen individual characters rather than the normal stories where you follow one force or army and jump around between warriors. I feel this gave me more of a connection with the main protagonist and I enjoyed levelling him or her up during each chapter. You also have the ability to go back and play the levels again with a different secondary character and you can swiftly switch between the two at the push of a button or let the AI control them for you, plus you have the option of online or offline co-op with a friend.
Weapons and horse this time also have ranks which can be levelled up by combining with each other and also a neat new over clocking type feature that gives you a random chance to over level by combining two weapons or mounts of the exact same type. This feature is very addictive and I have already got my death scythe up to 76 damage with a high chance to freeze any enemies and also one hit kill any minions!!!
We are also introduced to a highly challenging and rewarding survival mode. Here players are tested to their limits and beyond in an ever increasingly difficult castle where each floor is tougher than the last but the rewards are also far more lucrative. You need to reach floor 100 to complete it and I am currently on level 81. If you die before the end of any level you lose all collected swag and spoils and must start again from the last check point you have unlocked. So far they have been on level 11, 31,51 and 81. Trust me its a bitch to get really close to level 80 only to get knocked back to 51 again. Personally this mode has provided me with the most fun I have ever had in the series as its so addictive going for just one more level and trying to escape with a sackful of weapons and some new mounts along the way.
There are also other modes where you have global leader boards and I am currently in the top 10 in the world for all four and the top 5 on two of them! Engage Smug Mode. You must either collect the most gold you can within the time limit or kill as many enemies as you can or finally kill the flag bearers and then escape to the exit within 90 seconds to bag the coveted S Rank. Awesome fun and highly challenging!
Overall I highly recommend this title to both fans of the series and newcomers alike. It even has a cross save feature so you could start the game at home on the PS4 and finish it on the train to work on your Vita! Its has loads of re playability as one trophy is rewarded for completing every level with every character and also to fully level up every warrior too. In my opinion an almost faultless title at a good price point and worthy of a stonking 9 our 10.

Good one Kent Mallet. Seems like a good iteration of the Franchise. I have only briefly dabbled with these games, just because I haven't had the time to put in. Maybe one day!!!

Thanks guys!
I kept playing this until 2am last night, even though my review was done and dusted. This is the mark of greatness! I cannot stop!

Nice review. I like these games from time to time in co-op mode.
Been meaning to crack on with Warriors Orochi 2 for just about forever! It got booted up and then for some reason I had to turn it off before earning a single achievement. Then somehow I never went back to it.
