Gears of War Coming to Xbox One

Third-person shooter, Gears of War - one of Microsoft's most popular IPs of the last gen - is set to make a comeback on the new console, it's been confirmed.

It's long been rumoured to be in the pipeline, and the internet went just a little more nuts than usual when US Xboxers recieved invites to a test build that featured all the classic multiplayer modes: Team Deathmatch; King of the Hill; One Life 1v1; Shotgun Team Deathmatch; 1v1 Sudden Death Gnashers Only; 4v4 Team Deathmatch Single Round; and 4v4 King of the Hill Single Round.

The game will have better graphics than its 2006 counterpart, with animation studio Plastic Wax providing the cutscenes. Rather than opting for a new game in the series - which worked out so well for competent but samey Gears of War: Judgment - the developers will be remastering the original. But that could certainly be used as a springboard for new gamers to join the war of gears.

What do you reckon? Is the Gears of War remaster going to hand victory to Xbox One owners, or is it enough to declare war on Microsoft and developers Black Tusk?

This ones gonna be a must have for me I'm a huge gears head. I've been having withdrawal symptoms from not killing locust skum.

I will enjoy this, but do we need more remakes???

Looking forward to it. Have been missing a regular dose of gears. I would happily play all the gears again but not sure about getting Seriously... Again

This is the game I've been waiting for. Since the master chief collection came out, this gotta be the next remake.

I do have an issue with the amount of remakes, but this will be a must-buy. It's been too long since I've chainsawed a grub.

And maybe, just maybe, when the Gears 3 remake rolls around, ol' Dom will catch a break.

Gears 1 hasn't aged well so this is a welcome remake. I'm guessing that with this coming the new one isn't going to be for a while yet

I love me a bit of Gears, but I've got to say a remake isn't setting my gaming mojo on fire. I'll probably pick it up though.

Having recently picked up a 2nd hand 250Gb slim 360 (to replace my recently deceased arcade model). The first thing I did was install all 4 GoW, I'm planning on playing through all the campaigns one weekend soon

Whilst i love Gears, im not really into remasters. But purely just for nostalgic reasons, might pick it up when it becomes under £20.

That trailer though! That was one of the first trailers that i watched which gave me goosebumps.

Will definitely be getting this as I love the Gears games.

Depends on the price for me. I'd like to play this again but if it's the same price as a normal release I will wait for it to drop.

I'm hoping for an RRP of £20 - £30 if it is just gears 1. I wouldn't mind paying £50 - £60 if it is all of them

I wouldn't mind having Gears again on Xboxone. Plastic Wax is a not a bad animations studio, they help on some of the animations on Bioshock Infinite. Rather have the team from who made cut scene from Halo 4. If they are going to do all three, I hope they bring back hoard mode too.
