Fable Legends Going Free-to-Play
Fable Legends, Lionhead's 4v1 multiplayer title set within the world of Albion, will now be free-to-play upon its release for Windows PC and Xbox One. The game will be free to download, and it appears that the experience won't be propped up by content locked behind paywalls or innumerable microtransactions.
The game will release with a whole story's worth of quests, while additional episodic content will be released every few month alongside regular updates. Limits won't be imposed on game time, and there'll be no items required to top up energy, health or whatever.
Four legends will be available to play as in the game, and in a similar fashion to Killer Instinct's free characters, they'll rotate every fortnight. If you want to continue playing as a particular character, you can pay to unlock them permanently, and preserve any XP and gear you've earned.
"The right version of F2P is a very good thing for the world. The wrong version is kind of an abomination, but if you’re very fair to your players and they can play as much as they want, then it seems right," Creative Director David Eckleberry told Kotaku UK.
In-game currency or real money can also be traded against cosmetic items for your character, while everything connected directly to gameplay can be earned in-game without having to pay. The same rules apply for heroes and villains. Fable Legends is out for Xbox One and Windows PC in 2015, and will have an open beta.

Sounds fair it'll be interesting to see if they deliver I'm sceptical of f2p games so if they do what they promise it'll be a nice change.

Re: Fable Legends Going Free-to-Play
If they get the balance right it could be good, as it would show other developers what a rip off some F2P games are.
I've enjoyed the previous Fable games, but was a little unsure about this, at least now I can try it out properly at no cost.

They say they are following Killer Instincts F2P model, which is OK I guess, though if you want the full game then expect to pay a lot of money.

This is good and bad. I don't want to lose character progression so I'm going to have to buy them In away I wish they had just gone ahead with it as a regular game

I hate most F2P games but I also really like Happy Wars so that's what makes me always give them a try.
