Sony Selling 20th Anniversary Edition PlayStation 4 for £19.94 in UK
We've been waiting for what seems like an age to find out how to nab a 20th Anniversary Edition PlayStation 4 in the UK. And now we know. But it's already too late to pick one up on the cheap.
Sony announced yesterday evening that 94 fans would be able to purchase the PS1-themed console from a pop-up shop in Bethnal Green, London for just £19.94 today. Yup, I typed that right. The '90s themed PlayStation shop is flogging them for less than 20 quid. 1994 was the year the original PlayStation launched, you see.
All of which is rather fun, on paper. But if you live outside of London, well you're shit out of luck. And if you do live in London? Looks like you're shit out of luck too. As soon as the pop-up shop was anounced last night, PlayStation fans and eBay vultures descended on Bethnal Green to be in with a chance of buying the console when doors open at 11am today.
The last update we heard from the scene came from Jimmy, one of the chaps who runs London's gaming-themed Loading Bar. He's been there all night, braving the cold and he's painting a picture of poor organisation, freezing cold temperatures and people getting crushed. Lovely.
The pop-up shop is also selling an additional 50 consoles on Thursday and Friday for £399. The people currently sat in the line are being allocated wristbands. There will also be a chance to pick up the console online, from Monday December 15th, but further details have yet to be released.
