Xbox One October update Live!

October's Xbox One system update is now available to download, Microsoft has announced.

Previously available only to beta testers, the new firmware refresh brings with it a redesigned Snap Centre with quick access to revamped Friends, Achievements, Party, Messages and Game DVR apps.

There's also a new quick-launch menu, so you can jump between your last played game and last used app, plus snap and unsnap apps and record your last 30 seconds of gameplay.

Lost your controller? There's a new setting to help you find it by making it vibrate.

The console's media player has also been updated to support DLNA streaming and .mkv file playback via DLNA or USB.

I did read the euro gamer article on this today. I was a bit shocked at the comments below it. Full of Sony ps4 owners bitching about Sony not supporting the firmware and giving kudos to Microsoft for the after sales support. Some even tempted to switch! What a turnaround eh?

That is a surprise, Microsoft deserve credit for what they have done though the console has been regularly updated and is now in a much better state than it was at launch. Still has a way to go though as there are some things that are still better on 360
