Prototype 2
Ok so I played this and maxxed it on the 360 and loved it
So I have bought a second hand copy for pissy3 for 4 quid and am loving it again
If you have played Clackdown, Infamous or Prototype 1, then this is more of the same, but what I like about it the most is that your powers are pretty good from the off.
I love these superhuman sandbox titles and being able to leap and fly and run up buildings never gets old
Here you play a gentleman called Heller who has been infected with a virus given to him by the protagonist from the original game.
In order to get the storyline to work they have sort of done a huge U-Turn on why Prototype 1 was the game it was but the stories merge nicely and you don't feel shoehorned into a big bunch of bollox
You have to stop the bad guys and to do this you absorb folks along the way which increases your powers and special abilities.
The similarities to the original Crackdown are there in the set up of the Islands that you play on, but the game mechanics feel more like Infamous, but tbh its all pretty much been done before and you will feel very comfortable playing it even if you have never started one of the aforementioned games
Graphically its very good indeed and quite nasty in places and the video cutscenes and soundbytes scattered through the game are excellent.
Its not a difficult title and whats nice about it is that although there are extra stuff you can get with the Radnet add on, you don't need it to max the game. All the ach/troph are doable and the collects are not onerous, infact its set out perfectly as far and this is concerned
As we go next gen there are some great secondhand deals on brilliant games out there
If you like running up the side of a skyscraper then jumping off the top and gliding onto a motorway before using a superpower to throw 10 lorries into a helicopter full of bad guys and watch it land on a bunch of explosive petrol containers then this is the game for you
If not then my copy of My Hearse and Me 2 is on ebay you saddo
9/10
get it play it max it repeat

Re: Prototype 2
Sounds like good advice, I hate playing games out of order, but as there is a recap (and I was going to pass up on the series anyway), seems like playing number 2 only is probably the best bet. Cheers Everton.

You can join the queue and I can send it on to you when I'm done if you want (assuming Everton doesn't mind when he gets it back).

Re: Prototype 2
I'm really enjoying this game! It rocks. After playing this, it's gonna be a right chore travelling around any other sandbox game out there! Lol! Vehicles are for pussies man!!
This game is the ultimate example of substance over style. Graphics aren't great, Script ain't that brill, missions aren't the most imaginative ever, I feel no affinity to the lead character whatsoever, but what you get is fun. Games should be fun, and this game says "To hell with anything even slightly monotonous"! We want pure, un-adulterated fun!!! Being an un-stoppable power house has never been better!
I'm not saying it should be a ten out of ten game! It has it's flaws, but none of them affect the great times in any way! It sort of reminds me a bit of Splatterhouse in the way the melee system works as well as the other games mentioned, but the camera is actually better than that game probably.
Thank hell, you steered me towards this big E!

Re: Prototype 2
well when you get to the latter stages matey you will see the storyline is actually brilliant
I am now just one island away from beating it for the fourth time (2 times on 360 and on second hard run on pissy3) and I still watch all the cut scenes as I love the ambiance of it all
I like Heller too and he has some excellent quips
My only gripe is that the map screen should have the collects as the first menu option rather than map as you only use it for the collects and so its a double click rather than a single, but apart from that its ace
The devastator weapon is immense and when you have fully upgraded the hammerfist you can dive bomb all day long
Glad you are enjoying it and for me its a stand out title
BTW anyone else want to borrow it after tenners then feel free

Re: Prototype 2
Ok.Maybe i spoke too soon about the story. I'll look forward to the rest. Not too fond of Heller's dialogue upto now though. Hopefully it'll improve too. I like the cutscenes, they are brill.
Also, I cant believe Heller has yet to get even more powerful! That's mad. He'll be bustin through the telly.

Re: Prototype 2
He gets some great powers
And I would recommend you upgrade his speed first until its maxxed and leave the stealth upgrade until last and you don't really need to worry too much about detection if you are nimble
I would also advise that you finish the collects on the islands before you leave each one so you get some of the bonus mutations in place early doors
And at the end remember leaping and hammerfist are your friends!

Re: Prototype 2
Yeah! That's the way i went! Speed baby!! Not touched stealth yet. Done all available collects, lairs and black watch missions too for the upgrades.
Currently 39 % in.
There's something very satisfying about infiltrating a complex, strolling outside again and then just launching yourself over the nearest sky scraper to escape!!
