Vandal Hearts

To this day, Vandal Hearts 1 for the Playstation 1, has, is and forever will be my all time number 1 game ever. It's what sparked me into gaming and the reason I still play them. Every year no matter what I play and complete this game and each time I do it a completely different way and with limitations. If anyone here actually knows the game, what was your favourite part/class/moment?

I know I played and loved Vandal Hearts, but I don't remember seeing it in my collection for a long time, so not sure what happened to it. Kind of annoying as I would like to revisit it.

Pretty sure there was a Vandal Hearts II too, but think it was always mega-bucks!

I once won a code for the Vandal Hearts on PS3 directly from Konami, but when I tried to redeem it it didn't work. Lame.

Firstly, yes, there was a Vandal HEarts 2, it wasn't as great, completely different story to the First and third one (Flames of judgement) But the major difference is both player and enemy move a character at the same time which added a good measure of thinking, also any character can wear any armour and use any weapon as long as you own it. I still have both games!

That sucks too, I would cry for weeks if that happened.

You're really making me want to play it again!

I'm going to have to have a good hunt for it this weekend to see if I do still have it!

Also good, Vandal Hearts is AMAZING, easiest way in my pants/panties/trousers/skirts whatever the term is these days.

yeah you can swear. At least i think so. Occasionally we all seem to become potty mouth lunatics all at once. We had a whole thread devoted to swearing once.

Sorry to dampen the parade but the best RPG Konami ever did and ever will do is Suikoden end of story!! Love that game to pieces, both music, gameplay and story, all time classic RPG!

its hard to argue with that Tenners, but then i haven't played vandal. Maybe one day, I'll play it and :silent:g then i can tell you lot which is best.

Only back in your stone age does it win Tenlo But no, There are many, many games that people think are better than Vandal Hearts but that's my all time favourite

Though I got to admit, the only Suidoken I played was tactics,wasn't bad, ha.

My fave RPGs would have to be shining force way back on the mega drive.

BTW Colne. If you want my copy of Vandal hearts 2 (its ntsc though) you can have it for nowt. I dont think I have the first one I will have to look...

Just had a rummage this morning and Vandal Hearts was still in the collection after all. Have brought it downstairs so I can give it a whirl again at some point!

I have also been playing "Arcade Party Pak", which consists of such greats as Toobin', Smash TV, Rampage and Super Sprint!

Awesomely kind of you matey. I only have pal playstations though. Is there an easy way to play NTSC games on pal machines? Wouldn't want to waste your time and effort.

I think you can chip the PS1 to play it.

Hmmm, I have an old, ps1 that I got given that barely works. Perhaps that could be a project for me. It needs a new lens unit I think.

You can get these 'Gameshark' type devices which plug into the serial/parallel (whatever it is) port in the back of the fat PS1. They basically pause the boot up of a game so you can boot the machine with a PAL disc in, then swap the disc to the NTSC one and continue playing. If you stick something in the door latch of the PS1 it fools the machine into thinking that the lid hasn't been opened, so you can essentially swap the disc over without the PS1 knowing. I have a spring in mine.

Nice easy softmod, when you don't want to use it anymore, unplug the cartridge at the back and take the spring (or whatever) out of the door latch and it's back to a normal unmodified PS1.

This is how I played Twisted Metal 3 & 4, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics and Parasite Eve on my PAL console.

Ah wicked. I thought that only worked the other way round, ie, playing a pal game on ntsc. Stunningly good news! Cheers Waggles.

No problem.

As an added bonus you can use the cart as it was intended and add some cheats to games too.
Some of the carts also allow you to look at the files on the disc, play FMV and stuff like that. Be careful not to watch any end-scenes unless you mean to though!!
