Bodycount
Bodycount
A Codemasters FPShooty game
At the end of the lifespan of the original XBox there was a game called Black which was an FPS made by Criterion the folks behind many a racing game
Now at the end of the 360 lifespan I find myself playing Bodycount made by the codies the folks behind many a racing game
And although I only played Black for a shortwhile all those years ago its seems that my life is just on repeat mode as Bodycount is as Black was, a very simple lock n load kill everything blast fest.
Its not bad either if you demand nothing much from your game in terms of storyline or technicality
You are an agent of something called the Network and you are trying to stop baddies from blah de blah de blah etc etc
The game consists of episodic adventures across some different areas of the world. You start out in Africa and end up doing some pretty standard fare shooting, finding, shooting some more and exiting stuff in the middle of a civil war. You then discover high tech stuff and hop around different scenarios getting intel and shooting more stuff.
Its all in there in bite size chunks from headshots to multikill to explosive barrels and the obligatory timed escape from a detonating building.
Anyone who remembers the uproar about the supposed racial undertones of Resi Evil 4 will have that thought thundering through their brains in the opening chapters
The graphics are good but functional and the control layout is good
The soundbytes are trite and although not that bad, do little to enhance the game
The achs come thick and fast (I bagged about 400 points in my first 3 hours) and the game looks like its maxxable with just a couple of grindy mp ones holding you up
The scoring system is odd in as much as once you suss out how to do it then getting A grades is easy
Overall its a very playable shooter as long as you leave any expectations of drama and story behind. Its a simple get gun shoot everybody get bigger gun shoot everbody more fare, but I reckon the title does not imply anything else
Its a worthy 7/10 and recommended when you want to put your brain in neutral and mow enemies down.
I look forward to the GOW teams Formula One game

Re: Bodycount
Hmm interesting, I've always passed over this one in the shops. Might make a purchase next time I see it going insanely cheap.

Re: Bodycount
Nice review Everton. One of my friends lost his job at Codemasters Guildford because this game was a flop.

Looks like we can do all the seiges as coop and the kills there count towards the grind ach
I reckon this is a very do able max if you have a coop partner
I apologise now to anyone who has to coop me with this as I am old and shit lol
If someone bags this and helps me max it then I can put my copy out to any other member who wants it

Re: Bodycount
Finished the storyline last night (so whole thing played through in 7 hours total) and bagged about 650g in total
There are a couple of small mop up ach then its mainly the mp stuff
The game is 17 stages long and apart from 3 or 4 bits is a doddle on the easy setting. I can imagine that those 3 or 4 parts might be a struggle on harder level setting but TBH I was concentrating on headshots so maybe a blast n run approach will make even the hard setting a cinch
Anyone up for the MP?
Oh and get the explosive gun when you can
One shot boom FTW!

Re: Bodycount
Started this on Hard last night
fuck me is it a ramp up
Could not get past level 1 lol
I might need to revise my ach rating on this down to it being a managable 925/1000

Re: Bodycount
Picked this up from Cex today for 4 quid. In good condition too! You're right about them cheevs, I had about 175GS before I even knew what the hell was going on!! LoL!! 50gs popped three times in the first half hour, and I didn't even know why til I read the cheev list! 50gs for a 15x skillshot multiplier that I didn't even know I had gotten! Then 50gs for bagging a story based upgrade?? Happy days!!
It seems a fair enough no thrills game. Esp for 4 quid. Only done 2 stages, so I'll report my opinion later, and then there's the matter of co-op cheevs at some point!

You'll have to let me know what you think of Alpha Protocol - always been tempted by it but I can't help but think it will be a bad game.
