Just Cause 2

The cryptically titled follow up to Just Cause sees the sandbox genre taken to a new size.

The game is fucking massive!

You play Rico out to find/kill some rouge merkan and it really is almost a carbon copy of the first game

Its standard 3rd person open world action with the twist to your controls being the grapple hook which you get to leap around with and launch yourself into the air and kill people and attach yourself to planes and cars and boats with. In fact apart from using it to knock one out it pretty much does everything.

The graphics are pretty good but not eye candy good but the explosions and sound effects and the grunt when you are on a meaty bike (not my bird) are top class.

But its the size which is brilliant. The island group you are set on is hoooj and the amount of places to discover and items to collect/kill/blow up makes Crackdown's orbs look like a cake walk.

Lots of voice acting too with some funny soundbytes but some of the accents on the women are rather pony

I can see this is going to be another 75 hour enjoyment fest and its certainly a test of skill on hardcore level too.

Achs are all gettable but it will be a long 1000

As I am using the swansong of the 360 to enjoy its good games I am very happy that I put this disc in. I maxxed JC 1 and I hope to do the same for its sequel.

I maxxed Just Cause 1 too and although it got pretty repetitive halfway through I still enjoyed it. So much to do. I've tried JC 2 a few times but haven't been able to get into it :/

I loved Just Cause 2 and even though it got repetitive I found myself losing many hours a day to this game. It took me around 60 hours to 1000G it and I think it took a couple of friends around 70. Long game but enjoyable.

I don't know if it has changed now but back when I stopped playing no one in the world had reported 100% completion. I think the highest was around 98.14%, as only 75% is actually needed for the 1000G. My friend was going to go for it but got bored at 86% and over 100 hours game time.

Never played the first one but JC2 was great, I rented it a while back and enjoyed every second of it, awesome game.

Good review big E, I've got a copy sat unplayed on my shelf. Not played the first game either. Might look at giving it try, when i finish up with Borderlands.

Good effort Ev!!

I maxxed and enjoyed the first and this is much better! My copy is still wrapped in selophane, but it is in my to do next pile! Only reason I haven't started it is because i don't want to start too many new games while I still have a few outstanding, otherwise you get sidetracked for 3 to 4 years like I have with GTA 4 and Bioshock!

Well 25 hours in and its a great game and I have now beaten the mission stuff on Hardcore (cos I am 1337 and all that jazz!)

However for those of you not started yet but who own it and are going to play it let me give you a major tip.

Play it on the easiest difficulty through and then when you have gotten every other ach go back and play it just for the missions again. The reason for this is that I am at 30% completion and its going to be another 50 hours at least to the magic 75% marker. But I am playing all of this mop up at Hardcore which is quite challenging and leaving me to die and restart many many times. I reckon I could have saved myself a lot of future grief had I been bashing this mop up out at Recruit level and then tacking on a 10 hour burst through to get the Hardcore playthru achs


Shame it does not have a difficulty level in game selector but apart from that and the horrible horrible annoying voice of the Faction leader Bolo who I would gladly punch in the face until morning, this game is sandboxing at its very best

I attached a car to a jet liner taking off yesterday then got in the car and had a fantastic ride over the island!

So play on easy and bag everything and your experience will be far better.

Lol! I can't wait to play this now, after that jet liner tip! Gotta finish Dead Space and Splatterhouse first though. Can't get sidetracked again!!!

I think this is gonna be the next game to play, now that I've maxed out Forza Horizon.

I saw the e3 trailer for "Mad Max the game" and was insantly dismissing it off as another licensed bit of trash but then heard it is developed by the same team that made just cause 2. Intresting?

Could be good, Mad max deserves his own thread dude!

It gets it's own thread when we see some solid gameplay.
